F. Scott Fitzgerald lived a life that had good things to it and bad things to it. He lived both sides of the American Dream. He enjoys the young love, wealth and success but also had to deal with the tragedies of life. One of them being unsuccessful and having a drink problem. Fitzgerald was named after a distant cousin, which was the author of the star spangled banner. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on September 24, 1896. Fitzgerald grew up in a catholic and above middle class environment. Fitzgerald started writing when he was young. He really got involved in it and taking it more seriously during high school when he was the newspaper publisher, he published detective stories. This encouraged him more to reach his goal of being a successful writer. Fitzgerald attended Princeton University and later on dropped out. He dropped out to join the army where he contained to work on his writing skills, wrote magazines and musical lyrics. He did this to reach his dream. When Fitzgerald turned 21 years old he submitted his first novel to be published and the company he sent it to called Charles Scribner's Sons rejected it, but they told him words of advice that kept his dream alive. After this he started revising his novel in a way that was different from other writers. Revising different from the rest changed his writing style for the rest of his career. Fitzgerald started to rewrite his book called "The Romantic Egoist" which he wanted to be published. This was his second time rewriting and it got rejected again. As well as writing novels Fitzgerald also wrote stories for magazines. He specially wrote for a magazine called the Saturday Evening Post, this served as demonstration for his short works. Fitzgerald is represented as Gatsby because both men were in the army and both lost connection of their loved one when they went away to war. Also both weren't as wealthy at the moment to marry the love of their life. They couldn’t afford to give them the lifestyle of the rich, which they had when living with their parents. Both men wanted to become very rich to be able to accomplish their goal of marrying whom they wanted. The only difference Gatsby had compared to Fitzgerald is that Gatsby made his money the wrong way and Fitzgerald worked hard for his money and went through a lot of ups and downs in his life to reach his wealth. Both men were heart broken by their loved ones when they found out they were with other men as well.
F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote The Great Gatsby which reflects the extravagance of the roaring twenties. Fitzgerald grew up facing adversity, but gained success from his publishings. Just as Gatsby’s reign of wealth and fame came to an end, Fitzgerald soon became an alcoholic. Fitzgerald wrote his third novel, The Great Gatsby, based off his own life experiences. Throughout his life he faced many obstacles that are mirrored in the lives of the characters in the novel. Growing up, he was constantly aware of the lack of privilege and wealth surrounding his family. Nick faces the same struggle to fit in socially because he lacks wealth and social status. Similarly, his relationship with Zelda was tainted by his adultery which he acknowledges as acceptable for men, but not for women. The sexism that Tom’s character exudes shows Tom’s underlying morals. The Great Gatsby resembles a reflection of

Francis Scott Fitzgerald also known under his writer’s name, F. Scott Fitzgerald, is revered as a famous American novelist for his writing masterpieces in the 1920’s and 1930’s. F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote about his extravagant lifestyle in America that his wife, Zelda, their friends, and him lived during that era. In fact, a lot of his novels and essays were based off of real-life situations with exaggerated plots and twists. F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novels were the readers looking glass into his tragic life that resulted in sad endings in his books, and ultimately his own life.
The Great Gatsby unravels in death and destruction due to one man’s need, for one girl. His admiration and ambition for this girl shows how the American dream can lead to so much havoc. Even though Gatsby has everything he wants, he still has a want for that girl. Fitzgerald does a wonderful job of expressing that through Gatsby and showing how a pursuit of that dream can lead to so much death and destruction. Fitzgerald shows how that American dream demands more than you have and causes harm to Gatsby and people around him. All the events connected well and tied in beautifully with the plot. It affects more than just himself and he was blind to that due to his passion for the American dream.
F. Scott Fitzgerald was born September 24th, 1896, in St. Paul, Minnesota. His first novel's achievement made him well-known and allowed him to marry Zelda, but he later derived into drinking while his wife had developed many mental problems. Right after the “failed” Tender is the Night, Fitzgerald moved to Hollywood to become a scriptwriter. He died at the age of 44 of a heart attack in 1940, his final novel only half way completed.
The reason why his career took off at this point in time was because he began to write about the American Dream. The American Dream was a representation of what people needed to have a good life. The American Dream had two goals. The first goal is the achievement of professional success or wealth. The second goal of the American Dream is the fulfillment of love. To achieve the American Dream a person must have accomplished both goals. The theme of the American Dream was a representation of Fitzgerald's struggle to get the love of his life Zelda to marry him. Fitzgerald met Zelda while he was in World War I and he fell in love with her. The catch for Zelda, though, was that she would not marry a man that did not make any money. So, after his career took off she finally agreed to marry him.
Jay Gatsby and F. Scott Fitzgerald, two different beings, one a book character, the other a human being but both are the same person. Jay Gatsby, as evinced by the the title, is the main character in The Great Gatsby. His goals and achievements is what the novel revolves around. Gatsby is the most interesting character which is why he leaves something to think about in everything he does in the book, but what makes him amazing are the parallels between him and Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald uses Gatsby as a catalyst of his life in the novel.

Francis was the lone son of the couple however they had a daughter named Annabel who was five years younger than Francis. The Fitzgerald’s, who were Catholics, lived an upper-middle class lifestyle (Merriman). Francis attended St. Paul Academy where his writing career began. He penned “The Mystery of the Raymond Mortgage” which was a short story that was printed in the school newspaper when he was thirteen. In 1896, F. Scott Fitzgerald was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on September twenty-fourth. Fitzgerald was named after the author of the “Star Spangled Banner” (LitFinder). He was the only child of Edward and Mollie McQuillan Fitzgerald, and he is Irish by ancestry(McMahon 89). According to Matthew Bruccoli, while Edward was a provincial aristocrat, his mother Mollie, was a “straight 1850 potato –famine Irish” (Bruccoli). Fitzgerald ended up moving to New Jersey in 1911 to obtain an education at Newman College Preparatory School. Two years later he transferred to Princeton University. After schooling, Fitzgerald became a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, but he never saw war. Instead of entering line of duty in WWI, he was assigned to stay at camp Sheridan. F. Scott Fitzgerald was born on September 24, 1869, in St. Paul Minnesota and died December 21, 1940 in Hollywood by heart attack. He was the son of Edward Fitzgerald and Mary McQuillan. Neither of them were writers or had anything to do with writing for that matter so where F. Scott got his writing skills from is unknown, but it likely came from his father’s side for his father’s great-great-grandfather was the brother of Francis Scott key’s grandfather. Francis Scott Key is who F. Scott Fitzgerald is named after. He also wrote the “Star Spangle Banner”. F. Scott was the pride and joy of his parents, especially his mother; she would often show him off and make him sing and entertain when family or company came to visit. He did this till he was 15. His father was an alcoholic but had great manners that he passed on to his son. But even with being the apple in his parent’s eye he had little respect for them; he believed he was of royal blood and that he was dropped off on the Fitzgerald’s doorstep. Ever since F. Scott was a child he believed he was meant for something more, but he had no idea he’d become an American literally legend. (Donaldson)
Similar to Nick, Fitzgerald found that his different lifestyle was exciting. And similar to Gatsby Fitzgerald idolized the rich and extravagant life style. In conclusion The Great Gatsby seems as if it it reflects personal experiences in Fitzgerald’s life but not his full life. Fitzgerald envisioned Gatsby as what he dreamed to be and always tried to be like. And Nick was whom Fitzgerald really embodies. Both these characters in The Great Gatsby can help us understand more about Fitzgerald and what he was trying to say through the characters of the book regarding his own
F. Scott Fitzgerald’s book The Great Gatsby was a remarkable book. Fitzgerald Made the characters of the book as real and as personal as possible. Three characteristics stood out in the novel to me. Tom’s Jealousy of Gatsby relationship with his wife, Gatsby’s lies about who he is and his life, and Daisy’s ways to tempt Gatsby to fall in love with her. The novel was inspired by the way he fell in love with his wife Zelda.
Fitzgerald was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Mollie McQuillan, the daughter of an Irish immigrant (Fitzgerald, Bruccoli and Baughman, 1994) and charming businessman, Edward Fitzgerald (Martin, 1985). Fitzgerald was christened ‘Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald’, in honour of his second cousin, Francis Scott Key, (Ibid, 2004). Francis Scott Key was an American lawyer, author, and amateur poet, from Georgetown. Key famously wrote the lyrics to the United States ' national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner" (Weybright, 2007). Fitzgerald 's mother, Mollie McQuillan, made her fortune in the wholesale grocery business (Pelzer, 2000). Fitzgerald’s father, Edward, although a businessman, Edward experienced only borderline financial success (Magill, 1999). The Fitzgerald family lived contentedly on the outskirts of the city 's most fashionable residential neighborhood, Summit Avenue, in a modest house, which was described by F. Scott Fitzgerald as “a house below the average on a street above the average” (Kane, 1976). The house has now been listed a National Historic Landmark for its association with the author of The Great Gatsby (National Historic Landmarks Program, 2007). The Fitzgeralds were supported largely and owed a lot to the liberality of the McQuillan family (Ibid,
