Banning smoking in all public indoor areas has been a controversial topic in recent years. Opinions on the issue are divided. Some members of the society have been expressing their resentment towards the ban, while some insist that such a ban is of practical necessity. In fact, a total ban on smoking in all public indoor areas should have been imposed a long time ago.

Those criticizing the ban claim that smoking poses no immediate danger to people nearby. However, as we all know, this is far from true. Medical evidence proving the link between smoking and many fatal diseases is readily available. Smokers, as well as passive smokers, are vulnerable to heart attacks, strokes and cancers. Many members of the society have lost their precious lives because of the act of smoking. Such a ban on smoking, no doubt, discourages people from smoking and the number of victims of passive smoking can be drastically reduced.
