The Legalization of Marijuana

The legalization of marijuana has being highly debated through out the years. People want to use it medically and others want to use it recreationally. There have not been any reports of anybody dying from smoking pot; they should just regulate it. People’s lives should not be ruined for the possession of marijuana. It does not cause any harm to anybody’s life so why punish for it. It seems like the state governments has took the incentive of some what legalizing it, but the national government can still punish those people in the states that have possession of cannabis.
States have looked at the positive side of legalizing cannabis, which includes raising tax revenues, eliminating arrests, undercutting black markets and associated harms from corruption and violence, and limiting youth access. These factors are positive effects of legalizing marijuana. This is their strongest point they have, which may be the cause of not legalizing cannabis nationally. Legalizing marijuana can have many positive effects in many countries such as the United States, which have many cannabis users. Colorado and Washington have already passed laws that authorize the recreational use of marijuana. As well as Uruguay, who have a plan, which would establish a state cartel for growing and selling marijuana to registered users. People who are for legalizing marijuana are striving for economic growth and at the same time hoping to curb drug-related violence. This can very well happen, but time can only tell.
However, the opposition believes it should not legalize marijuana, which they say it alters the brain. They also believe it will bring more violence into the cities as marijuana begins to become more accessible to the public since there will be less b...
