Laws of Abortion: Legalized Abortion

681 Words2 Pages

Laws of abortion have changed over the years. Many people argue about abortion, putting its legal status in a bind. Back in the early days, the 1800’s, the thought of abortion was absurd and it was illegal. People that support abortion are known as “pro-choice”, and believe that women have the right to decide if they want to terminate their pregnancy or not. Americans will have a brighter future if they encourage the legalization of abortion.
Legalized abortion appears to be the reason for crime rates dropping 50 percent within the states. Crime rates began to drop a few years after abortion was first legalized in 1970. The few states that have passed legalized abortion first experienced the dropping in crime rates before the rest of the world. States that hold higher abortion rates in the 80’s hold lower crime rates in the 90’s (Donohue & Levitt, Doc 2). Within 60 days of his inauguration he brought up his viewpoints on abortion. Even though Obama supports, the federal funds will not pay for the abortion. He says that the states will use their own funds through their medicaid programs to pay for the abortions ( Annas, Doc 6). Some states like North Dakota don’t cover abortion services unless rape, incest, or to protect the life of the mother (Pickert, Doc 10). Obam...
