Identify the primary functions of management, describing who is responsible for each function at Kudler
Kudler Fine Foods has a created a management hierarchy that fulfills its mission statement. In the Kudler Fine Foods Team all three levels of management can be found. “Strategic managers, the senior executives with overall responsibility for the firm; the tactical managers who are responsible for implementing the directives of strategic managers; and the operational managers responsible for day-to-day supervision” (Gomez-Mejia, L, Balkin, D (2002) McGraw-Hill)
Kathy Kudler is the founder, owner and president of the company. She is in a senior executive role and would be classified as a strategic manager. She is assisted on the corporate level by seven individuals. The first is Harvey Stephens, the Director of Finance and Accounting. Each department within Kudler Fine Food's organization implements certain business process with which they conduct their daily business functions. Therefore, some departments within Kudler may experience some process changes if a contractual relationship with local growers were to occur. An area that may receive an increased change in business process would be the legal area. "Kudler uses very few custom forms, preferring instead to use forms (contracts, order forms, etc) that are supplied by the parties the company is dealing with. For example, the leases on the stores were contracts supplied by the lessors. The few customized forms the company uses were obtained from "of-the-shelf" computer programs and slightly modified by Kathy or her assistants" (Apollo Group, 2003). Kudler Fine Foods marketing should be able to easily see the most popular products purchased by customers depending on income levels, area of residence, gender, shopping location along with any other categories that marketing wants to add. The system should also automatically convert the purchases to points and add the point's totals to the customer information data base. The organization has five hierarchical levels, consisting of a set of divisional/regional managers, and three additional levels that exist in the plant. The plant organization consists of three levels: the plant manager, the seven area superintendents, and the front line people. The two cofounders decided “to avoid creating bureaucratic organizations resembling the government” because of their bad experiences working for the government. As a result, the structure of AES is highly decentralized. This allows managers and employees to both take ownership of their roles and have input on the success of the company. It also allows individuals to develop leadership skills for potential promotions. This flat management structure encourages high employee involvement in all decision-making opportunities.

Each day in my organization, we generate recommendations in the form of a report detailing how our clients can reduce their overall costs in electricity, gas, water, sewer, and any other commodity they wish my company to audit and analyze.
