Taking each region in turn, I have identified two states or countries from each of the eight regions. The first two that I have identified are from Latin America. Brazil seems to have the highest GDP economic rank at $2.422 trillion; however their per capita is only $12, 100. The state of Brazil is a democracy and I do think that has some effect on their economic rank because the state equally allows its people to make their own decisions based on social, cultural and ethical values. Perhaps Brazil’s per capita is so low because in 2008 Brazil encountered two quarters of recession. Unemployment is at a notable low and Brazil’s conventionally high level of income inequity has declined in the last 14 years. Next is the state of Mexico, which also has a very high GDP economic rank at $1.845 trillion. Mexico is also under the form of Federal Republic government and is a democracy, like Brazil. Mexico’s per capita GDP is $15, 600, roughly one-third that of the United States. Again, I believe that there is a relationship with Mexico’s economic rank and with the fact that it is a democracy state because it allows the people of Mexico to participate with the proposal and expansion of laws.
The next region is that of Europe. France is under the form of Republic government and is a democracy but it has its shortcomings. France has an economic GDP rank of $2.276 trillion and $35, 700 per capita. Due to tourism, France has the third largest income in the world. Therefore, I don’t think that France’s economic performance is in relation to the fact that they are democratic. Netherlands’ form of government is constitutional monarchy, which means that a king or queen acts as Head of State. Netherlands is a parliamentary democracy. Their economic...

Mexico’s leaders implemented a development policy which violated the ideals of the revolution by shirking the responsibilities of a social democracy. In his essay “Guatemalan Politics: The Popular Struggle for Democracy,” Garry H.
The United States has no more important foreign relation ship than that of which it enjoys with Mexico, and vice versa. These two countries share interwoven societies and economies. Although there have been disagreements and turbulence between the two countries, which partnership is without these? The Strength of each country’s democracy is fundamental to the other’s. This relationship that the two countries share directly affects that lives of millions of Mexican and United States citizens everyday. Recently these two countries have become even more unified than ever before. Tackling issues such as Border Control, Countering Narcotics, Dealing with multiple Law enforcement agencies, Human Rights laws, trade and development, etc. There are many issues that they are mutually interested in and must deal with. Yet, there are some vast differences in which these two countries are run. There are also many similarities, which we must take into account. Both Democratic Governments have similar structures, containing a legislative, judicial, and executive branch. Yet, these structures are very different internally, containing specific duties that the other country’s branch may not have.
The history of political instability in Mexico and its need for revolution is very complex and dates back to the colonization of Mexico by the Spaniards in the 1500s. However, many aspects of the social situation of Mexico when the Revolution broke out can be attributed to the thirty-year dictatorship of President Porfrio Diaz, prior to 1911. The Revolution began in November of 1910 in an effort to overthrow the Diaz dictatorship. Under the Diaz presidency, a small minority of people, primarily relatives and friends, were in ...

Today Mexico continues its disagreement on what’s best for the country and its people. Liberals and conservatives continue a political war with its politics from its current constitution. Today in Mexico, political parties continue their journey to either preserve or modernize its country.
In the twentieth century Latin America went through several political systems such as military dictatorships and authoritarian regimes. The transition to democracy involved national contexts, institutions, economic development, and that shaped the outcome (225). Although democracy is now more positive than how Latin American initially began, certain aspects of the state are not as democratized as others. In the general sense democracy is embedded in Latin American states and have accommodated democratic norms (250). Elections now function in a stable manner and governments easily rotate without dispute (250). Latin America is on the correct path to democratization however has not completely made the transition. There are still many issues
Mexico, a country filled with diversity and culture, has endured many political changes and threats throughout the course of history. Prosperity, independence, and democracy were prevalent during specific time periods in Mexico. However, Mexico faced a series of conflicts, economic distress, and inequality that led to political instability for many years. Ultimately, Mexico overcame these challenges to have a secure and stable government, but new threats to civil society have emerged.

Mexico declared its independence from Spain in Sept, 16, 1810, and for the next 100 years what followed was a period of political instability of rule under monarchies, federal republics and dictatorships. Finally in 1910, a revolt on the autocracy under Porfirio Diaz led to the start of the M...

Firstly, K. Isbester mentions that democracy has a different meaning for everyone, as some can define democracy as a good aspect for development, on the contrary other believe that it is nothing more than voting after several years. Although, Latin America see democratic g...
Democracy is robust, widely accepted and highly anticipated around the world. It is the triumphant form of government; dominantly used in Europe, North and South and America and becoming reformed and taking new roots in Africa and Asia. Although the term democracy is based on its Greek origin, demos kratos, meaning people rule, the term cannot be simply understood as such. Due to vast coverage, the adaptation of democracy has varied greatly, whether regionally, nationally, by state or through different branches of government. Perhaps this can be advantageous when the different categorizations listed above can use democracy to rule and suit themselves best, but other factors, such as globalization and neoliberalism, has caused the need for
There have been enormous efforts to spread democracy as a political system throughout the world by the developed democratic countries and the international development organizations including the World Bank. By the late 1990s the United States alone spent over a half billion dollars to promote democratic expansion throughout the world (Diamond, 2003). These were done considering that the democratic system leads towards development. As a result in the late 20th century we saw a huge political transformation towards democracy. During the last few decades a huge number of countries adopted democracy as their political system. However, it retain a big question how far democracy is successful in bringing development of a country? At this stage, some people also criticizes the effort of democratization arguing that it is done without considering the context of a country, sometimes democracy is not ideal for all countries and it is an effort to extinct diversity of political system. In studying the literature regarding the debate, we found a paradoxical relationship between democracy and development. Some argue that democracy has failed to ensure expected outcomes in terms of development. While others confronted that democracy has a considerable impact on development. Another group of people argue that form of political system actually does not have any impact on development process. On the verge of these debates, some development institutions and academics throw light on why democracy is not working properly, and what measure should be taken to make it more successful in bringing effective development of developing countries. Consequently, this writing is an effort of revisiting the different views about impact of democra...
Democracy today is alive in Europe and other parts of the country. However, democracy is still a hope; an organization under construction, a challenge. A mixture of old and new countries used to be under the oppression of communism but is now at the heart of the democratic experience. Democracy has manifested into the other parts such as South-East Asian countries where authoritarian has been removed. Democracy mobilizes political freedom and generates levels of prosperity and production.
