When I first started taking this course, I thought it was a brief introduction of what career counselling program is about. After few weeks, I have learned that this course also helps you to do self-assessment, self-reflecting and self-improving. Career counsellors need to keep on self-reflecting, motivating themselves and clients and constantly looking for ways to improve their skills.

When I went to the understanding learning styles workshop, I found out my learning style is to listen and talk about the lectures therefore I am a auditory. Furthermore I found out that I'm also good at reading about the lecture notes thus I am a visual reading learner too. As the result of the workshop, I studied with other fellow classmate and discussed about notes and the question therefore I achieved a better score on that class. The time management workshop, helped me to priorities my school works and I also learned how to set up weekly plan. This workshop class helped me to plan this course so I can hand in my assignments on time. And the note taking workshop helped me to know that reviewing my notes the day after the class helps me to remember most of the material that was taught in class.

By doing my personal wheel activities, I had a better understanding in qualities I have to learning to become a career counsellor. In my personal wheel, the top five skills I have is assist, guide, plan, organize and analyze. For example if a client comes to me for help, I can use this skill to assist him in finding the problems of why he is having trouble like in getting an interview. I can also help him in analyze the issues of why he is not getting an interview maybe is the résumé problem. Therefore I can guide him or help him rewriting his résumé. The values I have in my personal wheel is to work towards my long-term goals, to see the result of my work, a job that challenge me, a job that fits my personality and to meet clients needs. With these values I will enjoying in seeing my clients in finding a job and become successful in his or her career. It can also be challenging when a client is reluctant to having you to help him in getting a job. For example if a client is a recent immigrant who has language barriers and desperately needed a job to feed his family members.
