Is love at first sight real? According to “Your Tango”, “nearly fifty–eight percent of Americans believe that love at first sight is real. Also fifty percent of Americans claim that they have experienced it themselves” (Behan). The controversy over whether or not a couple can fall in love quickly can be debated. However, the truth about love is that it can occur in a split second. With evidence from the play, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, there is proof that love at first sight does exist. Love at first sight is possible because Romeo and Juliet showed strong feelings toward one another as soon as they crossed paths, and they did everything for their love, including killing themselves in order to be together forever.
Love at first sight is attainable because Romeo and Juliet showed major affection for each other just after meeting each other. For example, when Romeo first saw Juliet, he exclaimed, “Did my heart love till now? Forswear it sight! / For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night. (I.v.54-55).” Romeo questions himself if he ever truly loved someone before this time. Also he states that he had never seen true beauty before. This proves that Romeo fell in love with Juliet as soon as he caught his first glimpse of her without even speaking to her. In addition, right after Juliet meets Romeo she says, “My only love, sprung from my only hate! (I.v.147).” Two scenes previous, Juliet declared to her mother and her nurse that she did not feel ready to get married and did not want to marry Paris yet. However, after Juliet sees Romeo, she instantly falls in love with him and admits that she wants to marry him. This solidifies the point that love at first sight is real because Romeo and Juliet had feelings of love since the moment that they saw each other. Next time someone gets judged based on how fast they fell in love, think again about how they could have true feelings for that person. No matter how long two people have known each other, the feelings that they have for one another can be just as durable as the strongest love.

Every day it’s possible to find something related to romance. There are so many “epic” stories that have gone down in history but a lot of them were infatuation mistaken for true love. Infatuation is a lot like love so it’s difficult to pick the two apart. They both are strong intense feelings and make you feel the same emotions but infatuation typically takes off very fast and is short lived. It’s more of an obsession based off of physical attraction and leads to absurd, impulsive decisions. A lot of the qualities of this fixation describe Romeo and Juliet’s marriage. “Romeo, Romeo, Romeo, I drink to thee!” (IV.iv.58) in this scene Juliet drank poison so she could fake her death to be with her lover which is an insane choice. When in love crazy things can be done but with infatuation a person will do anything to feel the euphoria again without even giving the consequences much thought. This is alike what Juliet did because she didn’t have any second thoughts until the very last minute before drinking the poison. “The measure done, I’ll watch her place of stand / And, touching hers, make blessed my rude hand. / Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! / For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night.” (I.V.50-53) this was when he first saw her. By the end of the play, Romeo and Juliet have completely fallen in love, which ultimately led to their premature deaths; with their relationship beginning as lust and blossoming into love. While Romeo and Juliet's interest in each other starts off as just physical attraction, through spending time together and learning about each other, their relationship transitions into true love because of the constant fear of living without each other.
“Romeo and Juliet”, a play composed by William Shakespeare, is about a boy and a girl who are fall in love with each other at first sight, but soon find out that they have fallen in love with the child of their parents enemy. Seeing fate is not on their side due to the ongoing feud between their parents, they are willing to do anything to be together, which unfortunately leads to both of their demise. Many people question if the love between Romeo and Juliet was true. The love between the two was not true because they fell in love with each other’s appearances, they didn’t know each other long enough to actually figure out each other, and they were hardly thinking straight during the relationship.
It was fate that brought Romeo to the Capulet party which, indeed, is where he first meets Juliet. As they catch eyes for the first time they instantly fall in love; therefore, the literal sense of ‘it was love at first sight,’ is accurate for Romeo and Juliet. They destined to be together, until they discovered they were enemies – Romeo was a Montague and Juliet was a Capulet. Knowing that the feud between the Montague’s and Capulet’s was strong, it foreshadows that if they pursue their love, it will cause problems. Also, their secretive relationship caused them to be dishonest and deceitful with their families because they knew what might be the consequences of the marriage of a Montague and a Capulet. One reason some people think that Romeo and Juliet is a true love story is because the whole play is a feet of love about two teen agers how fall in love, go to the grave together and bring two warring family’s closer together due to their love. According to raven moss “love has no face” (para1). What moss is saying is that it does not matter your age race or beauty if its love then it is true .Also Romeo and Juliet were defiantly in love because they were willing to lay down their own life for one another and the fact that they risked their parents finding out and shutting them out of the family or worse never being able to see each other ever again (even though they were already married). According to raven moss teen agers know what love is because they are more open mined than adults so there for more willing to accept love.
At the very first sight of Juliet, Romeo immediately falls in love with her. He doesn't begin to think about her character, age, or even about whether she is married. If Romeo had taken his time and gotten to know Juliet and thought about what might come of this attraction, the tragic ending to their story could have been avoided. Romeo is not all to blame for the tragedy. Juliet felt exactly the same way about Romeo when she first saw him:

To sum up the whole story Romeo and Juliet’s love never had a chance because time was not on their side and neither were the two families. The young couple thought that everything would be solved if they hurried up and got married and that is what they did and it ended in disaster. This story, by William Shakespeare, is a perfect example of how falling in love quickly can be good in some instances and bad in others.
Despite what many people think, Romeo and Juliet is not a love story; rather a story of desperation and obsession. People have been reading Shakespeare for hundreds of years and several people have mistaken it for a love story, due to the fact that Romeo loves Juliet so much he is willing to kill himself when he finds her supposedly dead; she does the same when she wakes up to find him dead. But in fact, Romeo is more taken aback by her beauty than he is in love with her. Juliet is intrigued by the fact someone could love her because her parents are very unsupportive of her. When the two find each other, they immediately become obsessed, mistaking this for love at first sight.
Love at initial sight is a broadly debated belief. Some believe that true love that only has physical attraction without a deeper understanding of an individual doesn’t exist. Although, others argue that someone may be able to identify true love instantly. In fact, Shakespeare dedicates part of his play to this matter. In addition, he refers to Romeo and Juliet as "star-crossed lovers". To put it in another way, the two lovers are dissatisfied by fate from the very beginning. They may not have fallen in love like normal young people, but they still truly love one another.
True love is one of the most genuine, not to mention precious feelings in the world. In Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet, a pair of lovers denotes the strength of true love and it's ability to overcome nearly all obstacles. However, this kind of love is a rarity due to it's pureness but somehow many cheap imitations are still mistaken for real love. Romeo and Juliet's love is authentic and by no means an infatuation seeing as first of all, they both risk their lives to see each other and would rather die than be separated. Juliet also has an unusual level of loyalty towards her partner for her age which supports the idea of true love. In addition, throughout the play, Romeo's demeanour started to change and he began to mature in a considerably short period of time. Young love is a petty sentiment nonetheless when it develops into a fully-fledged unconditional love, both partners will begin to evolve and will do nearly anything for the other.
He relentlessly speaks about how beautiful she is when he questions, “did my heart love her till now? forswear it sight!/ For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night” (Shakespeare 1.5.51-52). It is evident that Romeo cannot focus on anything else but Juliet’s looks, which is a sign of physical attraction rather than love at first sight. Romeo proclaims to “love” Juliet the minute he lays eyes on her.
Romeo and Juliet's attraction to each other is immediate. The love they feel is passionate and based on a genuine understanding of each other's feelings. Romeo declares, "Did my heart love till no?" Act 1, Scene 5: Juliet realizes their love is special. Shakespeare encourages his audience to consider the qualities people need to fall in love and to remain in love.
‘Romeo and Juliet’ is a tragic play about two star crossed lovers written by Shakespeare in 1595. The play is a timeless teenage tradgedy. “The play champions the 16th Century belief that true love always strikes at first sight,” (Lamb 1993: Introduction) and even in modern times an audience still want to believe in such a thing as love at first sight. Act II Scene II the balcony scene displays that romantic notion perfectly.

Love is a great source of passion throughout the world. Though love is considered a good emotion, it can also be one of the biggest flaws a person can have. When one is in love, they will basically do anything to be with the one they love. They don’t care about the number of rules they break, or how much they change themselves, as long as they can be with the one they truly love. They may take drastic measures from defying their parents and friends to committing suicide. Shakespeare shows the power of love and the affect it has, through one of the most well-known love stories in the world. Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet brings the audience through the brief relationship between Romeo and Juliet; even though it is short it is complex. We are shown love, hate, passion and commitment. In the end, we are shown how true love leass to true sacrifice. Is it possible that love at first sight really exists? That forces such as fate, can make a person find true love and never let go no matter the circumstances? The answers to these questions can be found in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
