1.0 INTRODUCTION Internet has taken its toll for many years since its birth. It has now become an essential element in everyday’s life. People use internet for managing information, getting connected with many people, sharing files, location, interest and many more. After the revolution of ARPANET, internet is free to use by anyone other than military. It was fixed with wires using home telephone lines. Now, with the recent networking technology which is the wireless technology people are free to use internet without wires and free to use internet within 30-36 meters away with the help of wireless router. For it has its own benefits, wireless also have its bad side. It could test the patience of its own users especially when the performance of the wireless is bad. 1.1 PROJECT BACKGROUND Kolej Poly Tech Mara (KPTM) is a local private higher education. It was formerly known as Kolej Yayasan Pelajaran Mara. KPTMis managed by Kolej Poly Tech Mara Sdn Bhd. It is also a wholly owned subsidiary of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA). KPTM now has several branches which is situated at Kuala Lumpur, Bangi, Batu Pahat (Johor), Kuantan (Pahang), Ipoh (Perak), Kota Bharu (Kelantan), Alor Setar (Kedah), Sampoerna (Sabah) and the latest is at Gua Musang (Kelantan). KPTM have also established a collaboration with several public universities in and out of Malaysia such as Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Multimedia University (MMU), University Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Kebang Saan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Malaya (UM), Uniiversiti Sains Malaysia(USM), Matriculation Centre, Ministry of Education Malaysia and also Coventry University of United Kingdom. Municipal Wi-Fi generally refers to the perception of turning an entire city or region into a wireless access zone with a goal of making wireless internet access a universal service (Delta and Matsuura 17). Municipal Wi-Fi is in most instances deployed in large parts of the municipal area or the whole of it by employing a wireless mesh network, which uses hundreds of outdoor routers on utility poles. Recently, there have been struggles for municipal Wi-Fi on whether it should be pursued or not, since the efforts to provide it free has proved futile. This leads to the question whether the municipal Wi-Fi should be pursued. If so, should it be left to the private sector, the government or both? This paper seeks to answer these questions.
As evident in Table 3, Wi–Fi is the preferred means of accessing the internet in all regards except for best coverage. With the continued expansion of Wi–Fi networks, this small disadvantage could be entirely mitigated.
Wireless is everywhere today, whether at home working from your WIFI network to work where you might be linked to a wireless network or even through your phone through a 3G or 4G network to connecting to an open wireless networks. As you can see for the most part people are connected to wireless from the moment they leave their home till they get to work and then back. Wireless communication definitely provides an advantage over wired networks due to its mobility allowing users to connect from virtually anywhere, however because of this convenience they are also more physically exposed compared to wired networks because of how the data is transmitted given attackers a high number of access points to constantly attack. This also brings around the concern because of a large number of wireless networks constantly being put up most everyone is not going to recognize the importance of securing your network and how easily their data can and probably is being stolen. Think about living in an apartment complex or in a neighborhood and doi...
Advances in technology have encouraged progression of the internet and have sometime been a drive of development. The advert of broadband has allowed communications to be faster, which has facilitated the transfer of larger file such as sound and video. This ability marked the beginning of the modern era of sites such as YouTube and iTunes. When we look at the side of the internet, you can see its still changing, constantly evolving Internet into every sphere of life and every scientific field. The reason for this rapid development is that today's technology speeds up the whole time. Not so long ago we had the premiere of the new Windows 7 operating system, and already there are further news about Windows 8 which is to eliminate mistakes and errors that have occurred in Windows 7 and bring new interface. In retrospect, Windows XP users have to wait very long for the next heir of the operating system that appeared after a few years, I'm talking about Windows Vista. And now all hastened, "barely" released Windows 7, and is already talking about Windows 8 which will be released shortly. As the technology develops very quickly, there is no way to stop technological progress on the internet. New ideas replace old, there are more and better ideas to make the Internet more convenient for users. If everything will go as fast track, a few years created the possibility of implanting a chip in the brain that allows access to the Internet without a computer or other devices
It’s been named a fad, designated as doomed to collapse, and even populated with entertaining cat videos. The Internet we use today is not much older than a teenager. It’s a college student ready to enter the workforce and realize its full potential. But already, the Internet has undergone significant changes and revolutionized society. Over the next five years, developments in speed, bandwidth, and accessibility will continue to be made. These improvements will allow sharing information, connecting with family, and conducting business online to become easier than ever.
Users can connect instantly and easily to the internet through their wireless devices anytime anywhere.
For mini project of this subject, I choose to analyze performance management of different Wi-Fi based on context Wi-Fi service provided in my house area which is SriPuteri WifiNet. To analyze the performance management, I have to identify the problem statement, scope and method to use. In Local Area Network (LAN), although multiple device such as PC, laptop, mobile phone and many more can connected to Wi-Fi but as the increasing of device used, the network can become slower because of data traffic congestion. To overcome the problem, it is essential to have a good Network Management plans.
Usage of internet has increased dramatically. In March, 2000, there were 304 million internet users, which were 5% of Global population; in March 2013, this number has grown to 2749 million, which were 38.8% of Global population (“Internet Growth Statistics”). By 2020, the number of global internet users is expected to quadruple to 4 billion, and most of these new users will come online using multiple devices (Nukala). Internet is so attractive because it provides luxuriant information and enjoyable entertainment to people. It seems that the internet coverage will keep expand.
The Internet has become a key ingredient of strenuous and busy lifestyle. ‘Internet’ has become the central-hub for communication, explorations, connecting with people or for official purposes. Resultantly, Internet growth has led to a plethora of new developments, such as decreased margins for companies as consumers turn more and more to the internet to buy goods and demand the best prices.
Networks: The author mentions three major obstacles. First is wireless network capacity. The ability of wireless networks to transfer higher amounts of data at greater speeds without being prone to noise and multipath interference is a real test [2]. Second is the range of wireless networks. The range is limited and does not span across large areas limiting the use of wireless technology. Third is the integration between wired and wireless technologies. The integration among the two technologies is tough, challenging and needs improvement. Networking is an important challenge to pervasive

Technology has influenced modern life in many ways and with its every advancement; people may find themselves wondering how these things are possible. Wireless devices are in such constant use every day from people in the medical field to the average individual. However, society may eventually suffer adverse effects from the over use of wireless technology devices, even for the purpose of education.
The Internet has revolutionized the computer and communications world like nothing before. The Internet enables communication and transmission of data between computers at different locations. The Internet is a computer application that connects tens of thousands of interconnected computer networks that include 1.7 million host computers around the world. The basis of connecting all these computers together is by the use of ordinary telephone wires. Users are then directly joined to other computer users at there own will for a small connection fee per month. The connection conveniently includes unlimited access to over a million web sites twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. There are many reasons why the Internet is important these reasons include: The net adapts to damage and error, data travels at 2/3 the speed of light on copper and fiber, the internet provides the same functionality to everyone, the net is the fastest growing technology ever, the net promotes freedom of speech, the net is digital, and can correct errors. Connecting to the Internet cost the taxpayer little or nothing, since each node was independent, and had to handle its own financing and its own technical requirements.
