Managing Information: What You Need and Why You Need It.
Our opening series for 2010 is going to be about management of information. Information is the trigger that causes virtually everything in business to happen. Processes are initiated, executed, and terminated based on information. Sometimes the information is inherent, nothing new needs to be communicated to cause something to happen. More often processes “wait” for information before something can begin. For appropriate action to take place information must have three characteristics.

It has to be timely,
it has to be accurate and
it has to be available to whoever needs it.
All other things being equal, the company that can get timely and accurate information into the right hands at the right time will have an advantage over their competitors and an opportunity to optimize their cost structure.
Generally speaking, the industrial world has understood this notion for a long time. The scope of available technology has increased steadily over the past fifty years. Busine...

Information is a key component, which is virtual source in all aspects of business. Information helps create a well balance between analytics, business information, customers, vendors, and sales. Without proper use of information, businesses may struggle to understand components of their business, such as monitoring information, validated decision making, performance measuring, and the ability to identify new business opportunities. In this text, there will dialogue on how a Laboratory Corporation of America, also known as LabCorp, uses each one of these functions, to ensure better business practices, and proper regulatory control of the business components, that make this business strive.
Performance persistence. The bulk information is provided in prices and most management efforts just can’t overplay the market. In fact the more efficient the market is the less is the need for the market expert services at all.
In a world of fast-challenging technology, we can only remain competitive by continuously refining and expanding our technical capability.
Moreover, the industry is quite innovative because old products are constantly improved and new products are regularly a...
Information requires the processing and understanding of data by placing it into context, categorizing, calculating, correcting, or condensing.
“The rate of technological progress is increasing” (Taylor n.p). The idea of technological advancement is a concept that many have come to terms with. The rate of change of technology is what many find difficult to cope with. The trend of technological advancement has defied the linear perception of time and is having an exponential growth that has left many in awe.
A quote I heard many times when I was in high school and which I now know traces back to Sir Francis Bacon, one of our earliest scientist or philosophers as they were then called, is the statement "Knowledge Is Power." Today, I believe that the fuller, more correct statement is to say, "the application of knowledge is power." The study of science, and technology subjects will broader our opportunities in life. As we continue to advance through the 21st century we are well aware that technology is possibly the hottest industrial commodity around the world today. In the years ahead, it will be an increasingly critical factor in determining the success or failure of businesses. It is the fuel many of us are looking at to help us win this race to the 21st century. To do that, we should make technology matter. In this paper I am going to share my technology forecasts. I try to focus on my new forecasts a decade into the future - the first decade of the 21st century, because that is how far most businesses need to be looking ahead.
As science and technology begin to improve society as a result of the growing numbers of factory and industry.
Turning to the issues related to information handling, the definition of the information management should be mentioned. According to Hinton’s perspective (2006, p.57) the information management is “the conscious process of gathering information”. A brief overview of the presumable information sources in a high-technology company can help to outline the situation. T...
We are in broad information age. The handling of information is definitely the main commercial activity of our days. We are all consumers of information at different levels. Most of us also have to either manage, process, market, deliver or sell information as a way of living. Information is wrapped in all kinds of packages, or better said it is delivered through all kinds of media. All kinds of messages are delivered to all kinds of audiences.
For over a century, the United States has been seeing innovation after innovation. Assembly lines, cars, and many other commodities have all revolutionized the modern world, forever changing how we go about life. But these changes do come with consequences.
The old saying necessity is the mother of invention "continues to be true, and a new machine, structure, system, or device is the result of that need. If the new device, machine, system, or gadget is really needed, people will buy it, providing it does not cost too much. Then, naturally, these questions may arise. Is there a wide potential market? Can this device or system be made available at a price that people are willing to pay? If these questions can be answered satisfactorily, then the inventor, designer, or officials of a company may elect to go ahead with the development of production and marketing plans for the new project or system.
Same goes to this article that has its weaknesses. Besides these criticisms, this paper has some value and we need to judge it in terms of the authors' purpose in writing it. The kind of information I will explore is the knowledge of a specific news or event derived from study, experience or instruction(Webster 1993). This type of information is not something everyone can have access to. This information can separate the successful companies from the one¹s struggling to survive. This information is valuable, and can be bought, sold traded and even stolen. It can be the most important asset a company owns.
