Recommended: what is happiness
Individuals try to find happiness, but like water or air, it is hard to clench in your hands. As defined in Merriam-Webster (2014), happiness is a state of well-being and contentment. However, happiness is hard to achieve, but it can be as simple as being contented, doing what you love, and living who you really are. Furthermore, everyone asks how one would know that they have it already. Happiness is hard to achieve. Some people follow several steps in order to get what they want. People have unlimited wants. However, not all the things they want can give them happiness. Like what Matthie Ricard (2007) said “Happiness is a state of inner fulfillment, not the gratification of inexhaustible desires for outward things.” (p. 31) Happiness is not about material wealth. It can be assumed that a person is happy because of money but like what people say “money can’t buy happiness”. Aside from that, many things in life hinder people’s happiness. Life is not complete without struggles. Those problems and challenges help people grow. One cannot feel happiness if they were not able to feel sad...
Happiness is a key to everybodys life. Even the most depressed man on earth has a little happiness deep down inside. Its what keeps us striving to fulfil our needs and wants on an everyday basis. There is not one kid who does not get excited over a dollar to spend at the candy shop. What about the feeling of getting a promotion at your job, or even finding the cure for cancer. Being happy is not just healthy, but it is also rewarding for each and every individual. We strive to find anything that will turn a bad day to a good one. Individuals will compromise to attain their happiness. You can not get what you want without giving something first.
Happiness is a characteristic meant to be felt during an exhilaration brought by an event, but is not meant to be felt always. Joy is often confused as Happy because society thinks that when a feeling of hope or optimistic vision is felt, that an event must have caused this occurrence, however Joy is beyond an experience, and is an ever-dwelling knowledge that travels beyond feeling.

The forefathers of the United States believed that all men have equal rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This appealed to those who needed a fresh start or that just wanted a better life and this ideal has become synonymous with the 20th century America because America prides itself on being the land of opportunity. America has many people from all over the world come to live there because they yearn for opportunity and freedom.
Have you ever looked for happiness? Or do you know anyone who is searching for happiness? In the story “Macbeth”, Macbeth was able to become a king for his own happiness with greed but he never became happy. In the article “Unequal, Yet Happy”, the article explains that wealthier countries are not happier than poorer countries. So wealth does not necessarily bring happiness. In the video “Chris of Apricot Lane Farms”, Chris explains that although he was born without arms and legs, he was full of happiness because he accepts himself the way he is. So people can get happiness by accepting themselves the way they are.
Happiness is satisfication, being happy doesn’t always mean to have what you want when you want it. Happiness is a state of emotion with positive and fulfilled vibes. Happiness cannot exist if everything in this world went perfectly

Happiness is an inner state of well-being and fulfilment, and therefore it has to come from inside. Every individual has his or her own emotions and way of thinking and as a result of this no one can really say what happiness is and what happiness is not. However, universally, happiness is a by-product of a healthy attitude and viewpoint. Happiness exists in everyone whether they choose to acknowledge and believe it or not. It is not rare nor is it something only the elite have: everyone has it but not everyone recognizes it. Contentment is finding a light at the end of every dark tunnel and in order to experience this we must ignore the pessimism surrounding us and remind ourselves that happiness is not a materialistic object but a choice and frame of mind.
What does it mean to be happy? Happiness is a sensation that people want to have, and a lot of it. Above all else in the world, it’s what we seek and long for. Though this feeling can be found in many different places and at many different times, it isn’t easy to acquire. For some people, happiness might be found in exercise and sustaining good health. On the other hand, others can discover it when they go on vacation and relax. The idea here is that we each have our own things that make us happy.
Happiness is a feeling that cannot be broken if strong enough, no matter how much sadness or hate is around you. Happiness can come from the smallest thing, for instance, music makes me happy and can easily change my mood, or when I am doing something I love my mood is easily changed. For others it could be whenever you do something well, or right and get recognition for it. It is the easiest feeling to be spread and given out but often neglected and forgotten about which is something we should all be more aware

Happiness comes through good fortune and through loving and being loved. Eating a good meal, being in good health and enjoying the comforts of life can also achieve it. The simple pleasures of life bring happiness, whether it be enjoying a favorite dessert, smelling a rose or running in the rain.
According to Buddha, “Happiness does not depend on what you have or who you are. It solely relies on what you think.” To be happy, one must know what happiness is and then find aspects that make them feel that way. Happiness is not a brief sense of positive feelings, but a lasting sense of contentedness that can be achieved by keeping close relationships and engaging in habits that seem contradictory at first to happiness.
Happiness is a state of mind. The dictionary definition is "feelings of joy and pleasure mingled together”. A feeling of happiness is more than just an experience of joy or pleasure. It is a state of mind where the individual feels that “life is good”. As Aristotle says, “happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence.” I believe that everyone wants to be happy in life. One is abnormal if he prefers to be sad and alone.
