Sports Medicine is a medical field that specializes with physical fitness, treatment and prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise. These physicians can include physical therapists, athletic trainers, and strength and conditioning coaches. Although sports physicians are most commonly seen by athletes after they are hurt so they can be treated, there are some physicians that are seen before an injury occurs so that they can learn how to prevent injuries.

The athlete, the player, the coach and the fans are all counting on the athletic trainer to get that player ready to go back into the game. The career field I chose is to be a firefighter. The reason why I want to be a firefighter is because they help people and prevent fires from spreading. I’ve always wanted to help people everywhere, because I don’t like it whenever if there is an accident and some people died and lost their loved ones, people talking crap about them and just talking and pointing the cameras in their face watching them cry. I want to help people and make a difference and help protect people’s life, and be someone people recognize when I walk by them.
From a time, longer than I could remember, I had always known that I wanted to have a career in the medical field. My first choice was in Obstetrics, then after a few years, it changed to Dentistry. It was not until around the age of 11 that I discovered the career that I wanted to pursue after college, which was Orthopedic Surgery. Now to this day, this has been the first career choice that I still follow, research, and can proudly say I still hope to obtain.
The profession I plan to pursue after graduation is Physical Therapy. Physical Therapist are clinicians who work in a variety of healthcare settings such as hospitals, orthopedic institutes, and nursing homes to name a few. These highly skill professionals diagnose and treat folks who have medical problems, athletic injuries, or other deteriorating health conditions involving their musculoskeletal system. Patients are sent to physical therapists in order to get "hands on" on care for their conditions. In order to maintain a healthier lifestyle, physical therapists exercise prevention techniques with their patients. These techniques could include developing fitness exercises and wellness programs that can be consistently followed by their patients. As I grew older, I developed an attraction towards sports medicine/rehabilitation which could be exemplified by my profession of choice. Physical Therapists are able to combine health with athletes involved in sports, a niche I could definitely see myself in the future.
