The universe. So immense that only thinking about its magnitude distorts our concept of space. So intense that the energy and power generated every instant, in every corner of this infinite mantle of darkness and light, is of such extent that exceeds our understanding. So old that every measure of time is futile in comparison to its origins and its future.
How to measure the unmeasurable? How to estimate the infinite? How to compare it to measurable, finite, small, minute, minuscule creatures like us? We, who are so little, and at the same time, think of ourselves so greatly... ''We are inventors!'' we claim... ''We are intelligent!'' we claim... ''We have discovered everything to be discovered!'' we claim... ''We are human beings, different from any other species in the planet Earth!'' we claim...
Well, it's obvious that we are different. It's obvious that we are different from many other creatures in this planet. I would dare to say that we are unique here... but even compared to the size of this little blue ovoid body we live on... we are small. We are small, thats what we are. ...
In Alan Lightman’s, “Our Place in the Universe,” he describes his experiences in the Greek Isles explaining how meek it made him feel to be surrounded by the vast ocean with no land in sight except a small strip of brown in the distance. Great thinkers throughout history, have been exploring the visible variety of shapes, colors, and sizes, though the greatest of these are size, from the smallest atom to gargantuan stars. These massive differences in size change the way we view ourselves in the universe. (470) Garth Illingworth, from the University of California, has studied galaxies more than 13 billion light years away from us.
In the short story “Where is Here” by Joyce Carol Oats the stranger discusses the idea of infinity. Infinity is an abstract concept that something is without a beginning or ending. The stranger gives three examples of this idea. All three can be represented of a different type of infinity.
One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest: Every Person is Different In this world there are millions upon millions of people that roam around the earth in there own special, little life. Every person is different than the next one and he or she has their own personality. Each person also deals with life differently than the next. If everyone was the same, then we would be like one giant colony of ants.
... middle of paper ... ... Everything is basically relative and is what each separate person perceives it to be, just like the answers to the infinite questions posed by The Turn of the Screw. Works Cited Burrows, Stuart.
When working with the Infinite it would be wise to keep a personal perspective or risk losing a sense of oneself. Even though we call it our mind, we are only making use of the infinite intelligence of Life. We work with the creative power of Life and think we are powerful. We arrange and rearrange the natural elements of Life and claim to control the creative process. In reality, our mind is what we know of the infinite Mind. Our life is our expression of the one Life. Our world is what we make of the universe of potential and possibilities in which we live, move and have our being.

From all existing creatures, we humans differ because we are able to use our brain to make decisions. In
time, protected by those who see us shine and fly past them on their way
The reason we do not go out looking for the differences between them is because some individuals are afraid of any difference that breaks their social norm. Each person is unique in their own way, having vast differences and challenges that they may face to become themselves. These differences and challenges are what bring us together and make up the communities we live in. They could be someones teacher, best friend, sister. or brother, they could even be someones role model.
beings and cultures around the world. Yet it is not visible to the naked eye,
... drawn. What makes us human? Through the examination of human evolution, both biological adaptations and cultural adaptations which are distinct to humans can be recognized. Biologically speaking, humans are unique in that they are bipedal, they have larger brain sizes, and longer leg length. When examining the cultural evolution of humans we have a complex language system, we live in communities, engage in symbolic behavior, and act through emotional impulses. While we are often considered to be superior to all other animals, it is important to recognize that while we are animals, we have very distinct characteristics and adaptations that separate us both biologically and culturally from all other animals.
People are familiar with measuring things in the macroscopic world around them. Someone pulls out a tape measure and determines the length of a table. A state trooper aims his radar gun at a car and knows what direction the car is traveling, as well as how fast. They get the information they want and don't worry whether the measurement itself has changed what they were measuring. After all, what would be the sense in determining that a table is 80 cm long if the very act of measuring it changed its length!
Humans are a unique set of species with many defining characteristics. A majority of people when asks what makes you human, would say being able to breathe, talk, bleed, and reproduce....
Many people who live on Earth are close minded to what is really out there in the universe. They cannot even begin to fathom the vastness of it and how Earth is just a tiny little speck compared to everything else out there. From the planets to the stars and out towards the edge of the unknown, we can only see what science provides us with. From this, we know that we are nothing but a tiny planet located in a solar system of millions in a galaxy of many more in the universe.
