There are two things in common with all the x-rays taken. They all have a story and all the stories are shared with the man or women taking the x-ray. Almost everyone will have at least one x-ray in their life. Most x-ray technicians can make an impact on their patients life, no matter if it is a good or bad impact. While the patient is sitting there in minor or crucial pain, the x-ray technician has to distract them from the pain while they move them to take the x-rays.
Most people do not understand just how important x-ray technicians are. An x-ray tech could lead to incorrect diagnoses if they do not fulfill their duties right (Career). They have many responsibilities: they are to lead x-ray film cassettes, to take radio graphs and digital photos, to develop, fix, wash, dry, and files x-ray film, to keep records to x-ray film, and they have to assist scheduling for the x-ray clinics (Become). “X-ray technicians use cutting-edge imaging methods to visualize, treat illnesses, or injuries with great accuracy” (Spako). They use a lot of different equipment to take images (Spako). X-ray techs use traditional x-ray machines, computerized axial tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, fluoroscopy, film, and digital mammography (Spako). Another name x-ray technicians will get called is radiographers (Decker). “Radiographers and their colleagues in the radiology lab provide a vital service, improving doctors’ ability to diagnose and treat patients for a variety of illnesses” (Decker).
X-ray Technicians work in many places; some include a hospital, doctor’s clinic, or a laboratory (xraytech). “About 61% of x-ray technicians work in a hospital” (Become). Most of them work weekends, and holidays; some of them also work night shifts (Spak...

In the radiology profession first you must write the patient’s file. This includes information about insurance, medical history, what the required x-ray is for and where it is going to be taken on the body. Writing in this way is similar to writing a small research paper. You must do research on the patients and there history and what insurance they have. Writing the report is important because the information must be accurate so the patient can be helped as much as possible. If the information about medical history is incorrect it can cause a huge problem for the patient. For example, if the patient is claustrophobic they would need to get an open room x-ray where the patient isn’t in an enclosed tube so they don’t have a panic attack and potentially injure themselves and others. It is very important to make sure the report has the correct area of where the x-ray needs to be taken. Having the wrong part of the body x-...
In dentistry there is a need for taking an x-ray, the x-ray is a way to help the dentist diagnose a patients oral hygiene and to see if there are any other areas in the mouth that may need to have any type of work. The dentist or the assistant will want to make sure that they can get all the teeth possible in the radiograph (x-ray) as possible to reduce the amount of exposure to the patient. Most people will have exposure to radiation just from standing outside in the sun for a long period of time, which is what we call “background exposure”.
Attending Florida Southwestern State College to become an x-ray tech is a huge accomplish for me. Because I have a learning disability unfortunately I have to take remedial courses like intermediate algebra, Brush up English, and a reading course the first semester. The good thing about studying Radiology is you can switch to any type of jobs in this field. For an example, you can switch to working with MRI’s or Cat Scans if you want to try another department in the Radiology field. This specific field is for you to work with x-rays. It’s important to know the bone structure .You can work with ultrasounds to, Cat Scans, to MRI’s (Magnetic resonance imaging).
My topic that I am researching is a Radiology Technician. Basically, their job is to help Physicians take x-rays and to help them out with the readings. They also perform cat scans, ultrasounds, and radiation therapy. This article informs the reader of the job duties and occupational specialties. It tells them what they need to be able to do, such as noticing detail and clearly communicating. It also provides them with educational and preparation opportunities. The training is provided and the work environment is in mainly hospitals or, if you are in combat, a mobile field hospital (#10). They need to be physically ready, able and willing to perform their duties. They have to be very alert and vigilant in trying to study and notice the very in depth detail of the images they produce. Radiologist Technicians have a very small field of workplaces they may be at. If they are combat, such as military, they will be in what is called a mobile hospital field. Here, they may tend to and care for the soldiers who have fallen in battle because of a wound or any other difficulties within the body. They may work in a more common space, such as a physician or hospital room. Regardless of where they may work, they will always have a major part in the workforce. Now, lets talk about the equipment they use. One of the many different types of equipment they use is called a Computed Tomography, what this does is it allows technicians to produce many cross-sectioned images of the body. They can use these readings and images to comprehend the problem or problems that are associated with their patient. Next, we have the Sonography equipment,or the ultrasound equipment. This piece of equipment uses high frequency waves to view internal organs and musc...
As a medical assistant, I will tell the patients that we need to establish that radiographs are a necessary part of good patients care. Since we can’t see inside of our body, radiographs provide valuable information that we can’t visualize. I will also tell the patients that if they don’t want to take X-rays there will be a greater negative effect. I will also explain her that if we take X-rays, we will know how to taking care of her. If she refuse to take X-rays, we will not know about her health situation and there will be a big problems and it can also lead to death. I will reassure her that if you don’t take X-rays, we cannot give you the care you deserve without radiographs. So be prepare on the next visit for X-rays. If the patient refuse
Researching the job description, opportunities, and risks of an X-ray Technician can make it easier to choose this profession. The medical field has a large variety of professions to choose from. The number of years a person wants to devote to school can be a factor in the choices made for a job in the medical field. A good place to start would be the history and facts of an X-ray Technicians.
Within the field of radiology, there are: (1) radiologists who are physicians specializing in interpreting diagnostic images in connection with diagnosing illnesses and injuries and monitoring medical conditions in relation to many other areas of clinical medicine; (2) radiological nurses specialize in providing nursing services exclusively in connection with radiological medicine; (3) radiologist assistants are the first line of support for radiological physicians and perform many of the procedures and tests ordered by radiologists; and (4) radiological technologists operate and maintain some of the sophisticated medical imaging systems and tools and work side-by-side radiologist assistants and radiologists in conducting the diagnostic tests on patients.
What would Wilhelm Roentgen, the father of X-ray, say about the technological discoveries in radiology today? Since the start of X-rays in 1895 significant advancements have revolutionized the field of radiology. One illustrates how different scanners have improved, in addition how picture archiving communication system can assist doctors, and finally the outlook on the future of radiology.
The role of the radiologist is one that has undergone numerous changes over the years and continues to evolve a rapid pace. Radiologists specialize in the diagnoses of disease through obtaining and interpreting medical images. There are a number of different devices and procedures at the disposal of a radiologist to aid him or her in these diagnoses’. Some images are obtained by using x-ray or other radioactive substances, others through the use of sound waves and the body’s natural magnetism. Another sector of radiology focuses on the treatment of certain diseases using radiation (RSNA). Due to vast clinical work and correlated studies, the radiologist may additionally sub-specialize in various areas. Some of these sub-specialties include breast imaging, cardiovascular, Computed Tomography (CT), diagnostic radiology, emergency, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), musculoskeletal, neuroradiology, nuclear medicine, pediatric radiology, radiobiology, and Ultrasound (Schenter). After spending a vast amount of time on research and going to internship at the hospital, I have come to realize that my passion in science has greatly intensified. Furthermore, both experiences helped to shape up my future goals more prominently than before, which is coupled with the fact that I have now established a profound interest in radiology, or rather nuclear medicine.
Today I’m going to inform you about X-ray Technology its history and how it been advancing since it’s been invented. Also will inform you how it is currently helping doctors and their patients.
Nearly every medical facility has an X-Ray machine. These machines give an outline of you bones and organs using X-rays. People argue the pros and cons of using X-rays.
During my half day shadowing of Memorial hospitals radiologist, Dr. Armah, I was able to observe several studies. These studies included several CT scans, and three PET/CT 18F-FDG scans. During my shadowing experience I was able to obtain a better understanding of how the radiologist reads images, what makes for good diagnostic images, and what role I play in the quality of the images. The shadowing experience was one of great importance as it proved to be very informative. Such information included technology impacts, various pathologies, and personal reflection on my role.
The nature of work for radiologic technologists involves many tasks. Often referred to as radiographers, they take x-rays of the human body for a diagnosis. The techs remove jewelry and explain procedures, as well as position the patient to be appropriately radiographed. Lead shields are worn to prevent unnecessary exposure to radiation, but techs are also required to follow strict regulations for the use of radiation to protect their patients and coworkers. In addition, radiologic technologists maintain equipment and patient records (Bureau of Labor Statistics). There are certain skills one should possess to be an effective technologist and these include active listening, talking to others to convey information effectively, critical thinking, reading comprehension, and c...

The job requires a person to be active, flexible, and able to handle the work environment, outgoing, and helpful (Santa Fe College). If being a former athlete came easy to an individual, this career would also, because they require the same needs. Radiologic Technologists mainly work midnight shift working seven p.m. to seven a.m. on Friday through Sunday, and to make up forty hours they sometimes work a six hour shift on Thursday (Farmer, Belinda). Students that look forward to the thought of a family with kids, this would be perfect because they could attend school activities, sports, and any other extra-curricular activities. Radiologic Technologist us high-tech, expensive equipment and are an important part of a large medical team (The Society of Radiographers). Technology is interesting when it comes to helping someone, and helping someone makes it even better. Radiologic Technologists place and process x-ray film and position shields to protect patients from radiation (All Allied Health Schools). The slow, step-by-step processes is to assure safety of the image. The new Novel Imaging technique that blends aspects of magnetic resonance imaging with gamma ray imaging is supposed to be easier to obtain
