How IT helps

Without IT, projects such as this would not be possible. It enables

many things such as:

* Error handling - if you make a mistake in a word processing

package such as Microsoft Word, you can just delete it or undo it.

If this was to happen on paper, then any resolution is bound to

look out of place, whether it be Tipp-ex or scribbling out.

* Software such as Encarta and other computer encyclopaedias, along

with the internet, make research very easy. One problem with this

though is that there is often so much information on the internet,

it can be hard to choose which of it is relevant or not.

* Desktop publishing software such as Microsoft Publisher makes

presentation easy and relatively quick. A document can be made

very attractive and informative either through using one of the

wizards or just using all available tools on a blank presentation.

* Whereas sheets of paper can get dog-eared, take up space or are

easily lost, documents on a PC can be saved to a specific folder,

and, unless purposefully done, cannot be 'lost'.

Problems with IT

There are though, some problems with using IT. Most can be prevented.

* Through downloading unknown or infected software, or using

infected discs, a computer may contract a virus. A virus in

electronic terms is a man-made program which attacks specific

targets within its host PC. It can wipe out whole hard drives,

resulting in the loss of much of the saved work on a computer.
