Introduction
Actually, by solar cells we can change sunlight to electricity directly. Every day, the light of sun hits your roof's solar panels with photons (sunlight particles). These photons are converted by solar panel into electrons of direct current (DC) electricity. The electrons flow out of the solar panel into an inverter and other electrical safety devices. The function of an inverter is to convert the "DC" power (which commonly used in batteries) into an alternating current or "AC" power. AC is a kind of electrical power that computer, television and toasters use when plugged into wall outlet.
The solar energy is one of the most important energy on the world because it is totally free, available widely, produces no pollution, no emission, no noise and no carbon footprint. so we must use this energy us can us possible to avoid the effect of other energy .
The solar power systems that are used in our roof, produce the power directly from the sunlight's. Each solar cell in the panels convert the sunlight's directly into electricity. In fact, there are many factors which affect how well cells do that.
How solar energy's are converted to electricity?
Solar cells are made of a mixture of silicon and other elements in such way that there are extra electrons in one part of the solar cell and missing electrons in the other part of the solar cell.
When sunlight's hit these cells, the extra electrons are loose from the silicon due to the photons in the light, and they will flow to the part of missing electrons. This flow of electrons will produce an electrical current that finally reaches the inverter, where it converted into usable electricity.
The producing of electricity from solar energy affecting by many factors and the most fundamental factors is cell's orientation.
In the northern half of earth, the best results of converting solar energy into electricity can be when the cells facing south, also when the cells facing east or west can still produce power but for a shorter period of time.
There are some systems employ trackers that turn solar cells to face the sun directly as it moves across sky, so the amount of electricity produced will increase. However, it introduce more complicated moving parts into the system that need more maintenance and repair from time to time.
Nowadays many activates work by solar energy because of these advantages :
Solar energy is energy taken from the light that reaches earth's surface from the sun. There are four different kinds of solar energy, which are active solar systems, passive solar systems, photovoltaic cells and concentrating power systems. An active solar systems is a system that captures solar energy by mechanical means. Common active solar systems are often in buildings or homes. Some examples are roof collectors and water heating. Low Intensity and high variability have limited the use of active solar energy in Canada. A pass...
With the growing cost of fuel for cars and the rolling blackouts of last summer, the need for an alternative, cost-effective, environment friendly energy source is escalating. Many possible solutions have been presented, such as nuclear power, wind power, and hydrogen fuel cells; prevalent among these is solar power.
Photovoltaic electrical energy is the result of the “photoelectric effect”, a phenomena that occurs when metals are exposed to sunlight. The photovoltaic effect results in both a voltage and a current, the two ingredients for electricity’s generation. This is defined as a clean energy mechanism as the source of the energy is the sun and results in electrical energy being generated without the “products of combustion: Carbon Dioxide CO2” as is the case with fossil fuels (coal, gas, oil). It’s ad...
Before I go in to detail about usage and implementation of solar cells, let me explain just how they work. Solar cells, also known as photovoltaic cells (Photo= light Voltaic=electricity) capture photons, convert them into electrons, and use these electrons to transfer energy to whatever you want to power. To do this, solar cells are made with a material called a semiconductor, which, for solar cells is almost always silicon. When light hits this material, it causes electrons to break loose and flow throughout the material. By placing metal plates on the solar cell, we can capture this flow of electrons, otherwise known as current. Using the equation Power= Volts * Current, you can calculate the voltage output of a cell, which, using silicon, is about 1.1 volts- a 25% or so efficiency.
The sun warms up the planet but people can also use that to warm up their own house. Not only does the sun help with heating but it can also help with other renewable energy sources. The sun is considered the most powerful energy source because it makes wind, is part of the water cycle by evaporating water, and it helps plants grow (West). Solar power uses the dark blue, tile looking machines known as photovoltaic devices that gather the energy and convert it into energy (Wieman). Since the sun does not always shine on the same spot, people need to choose the location of these devices wisely. When they have the device in the right position then they can start gathering power. Solar power collects solar energy from the sun, then “converts that into sugar and starches which then break down to create chemical energy” (Heinrichs, 12). This seems as a wonderful but not many people realize how...
All energy comes from the sun. It is the most abundant form of clean, renewable energy. 173,000 terawatts of solar energy strikes the Earth continuously, which is more than 10,000 times the world’s total energy use (Pierce). It does not produce carbon dioxide emissions, it will not deplete, and it is free. The way solar energy works can be demonstrated when one walks outside. The sunlight hits an object, the skin, and the energy turns into heat, which is the warmth that is felt on the skin. The way to harness this energy is when the sunlight hits certain materials, the energy turns into an electrical current instead (Locke). Solar cells are a device that can convert sunlight into electricity. Solar cells have crystals, which are bonds between silicon atoms made of electrons shared between all atoms (Locke). The light gets absorbed and the...
Rooftop solar is comprised of solar panels, an inverter, and a meter connection to the electric grid. Solar panels are made from different types of silicon that produce direct current when exposed to sunlight. The direct current from solar panels is routed via metallic wires into an inverter which converts direct current to alternating current, also known as DC to AC conversion (Solarworld, 2014). The output of the inverter is tied into an electric panel. This is where your electric meter gets involved with tracking kilowatt hours produced by your solar panels before they are fed back into the electric grid (Zipp, 2013).
In the last few decades, technological leaps and the scaled-up production of solar panels have made sol...
Solar power is a renewable alternative energy. The sun helps the solar power to produce energy and converted to electricity. The sun provides the earth with two major forms of energy, heat and light. There are three ways types of solar power solar cells, solar water heating and solar furnaces, but the most common solar power is solar is solar cells. How solar cells works is when there is a sunny climate the sun reflects in to the solar power so that it can get electricity. Most solar power systems utilize heat energy for heating will the others transform light into electricity. Solar Power is not only for house use but also for cars. Now in days, vehicles run on with solar power. According to (makeitsolar.com), it says, “PV panels as a direct power source that convert light energy into electricity to power their motors. When sun is not available, cars will not run, so, is better to have a car powered by batteries that can recharged with solar energy” describes how solar power is the better way to save electricity and could easily recharged when sun is available at no cost. Solar power is the better way to save electricity without using house power or car battery.
Solar panels are systems that generated heat or electricity by using the energy to be carried ray of the sun. Solar energy panels absorbs the sun’s energy with the aid of dark surfaces located inside panels. After obtained heat, water is heated by transferring water by solar energy panel.
For example, people may charge their electric cars in the morning with the sunlight, and during the night the electric cars will work by saving the power from the morning; as a result, solar power runs for a long time, and people may do their work without doing any problems for the environment. Furthermore, solar energy does not use any equipment to work such as wires or cords unlike other sources like wind energy. For instance, solar power can be at the roof of the house without using any equipment, and without taking any space. On the other hand, Louwen, Sark, Schropp, Turkenburg, and Faaij (2015) stress that solar cells need to replace the material that is used or decrease the amount of the equipment used such as silver and indium since they are used in silicon cells. This might negatively impact the environment and the production cost (p. 1407). Overall, solar energy can be used as a renewable energy to reduce the pollution and protect the environment from the harmful gasses, and can be used without access to power
This is done by reflecting and amplifying the solar power to heat up the liquid generally water. As water has a very high boiling point at eats up a huge amount of thermal energy. That thermal energy is than used to rotate a turbine to generate electricity. Producing electricity by the mean of this technology will be cheaper and very eco-friendly. Although that technology is still under development theoretically this will have no carbon emission at all and will be safer than conventional technics that are being used. The figure below illustrates how it
sun energy is the source which the solar car depends on it for their energy like other device which run on solar power . In fact, we cannot benefit from the sun arrays directly, but we use solar panels or photovoltaic arrays, which consist of hundreds or thousands of neatly arranged solar cells. These panels collect the sunlight and then convert it into electric energy. Solar cell is made of semiconductor materials such as silicon and alloys of indium, gallium and nitrogen. Its efficiencies can reach to 20%. This percentage is converted to electric energy from the total solar energy which fells on the panels. The electrical current generates during the energetic movement between layers of solar cells.
At our new house, we have two stand alone pedestals with six 170W panels on each pedestal, making for 2040W or 2kW solar system. According to Mr. Solar.com, “this type of energy production, known as the Photovoltaic Effect, is achieved by solar panels converting sunlight into energy. Solar panels are made up of several individual solar cells, composed of layers of silicon, phosphorous (which provides the negative charge), and boron (which provides the positive charge). Solar panels absorb the sunlight’s photons and by doing so initiate an electric current, producing electrons. The resulting energy generated from photons striking the surface of the solar panel allows electrons to be knocked out of their atomic orbits and released into an electric field generated by the solar cells, which then pull these free electrons into a DC or directional current.” This electricity then proceeds to a mechanical room beneath our house to a charge controller, which regulates the amount of energy sent to our 24V batteries to be stored. From these batteries, the electricity goes to an inverter, which then changes the DC to AC or alternating current in order to use our modern electrical appliances and gadgets.
Solar energy in simple is the energy provided by the sun known as solar radiation. This energy can be used to produce solar electricity or heating. This energy can be for domestic use or even commercial use. The solar technologies are classified into 2 types, the solar photovoltaic (PV) and the concentrated solar power (CSP). For solar photovoltaic technology, the conversion of solar energy to electrical energy directly requires solar photovoltaic cells. In brief, the sunlight strikes the PV cell, the semiconductor material of the cell will absorb part of the light, and it will energize the electrons in the material, allowing it to flow freely, creating electricity. It is known as the photovoltaic effect. The other way to produce electricity
