Everyone has heard or been told, “high school is what you make of it.” High school is in fact what you make of it, but it is also the time of great change in everybody. Entering grade nine you still feel like a kid, your post-secondary and career choices are far from top priority. However, by grade twelve we become more mature and grow into young adults. Personally looking back to my grade nine self and comparing her to my grade twelve self of today, I am able to see changes in my character, my athletics and my goals. There are many aspects within my personal character in which have changed since entering grade nine. One of these aspects is my time management skills. When I first started out in grade nine, I used to rush home and rush through all my homework. Although this would seem like a good habit, the “rushing through my work” part was not working. The homework would be done but sloppy and just finished to say it was done so I could go out. After four years though, I have learned my lesson and do my homework efficiently. It is important to read over your notes and study hard in order to get good grades. As well, I needed to learn which assignments where most demanding and important that night. In grade nine, I used to leave the hard stuff for last and crash half way through. Now I know that I have to write my essays first instead of finishing the religion collage. After four years, I have finally figured out how to balance school, work, friends and family, which is one of the most important things to learn. Another aspect that has changed are my friends. By grade twelve I have established my main group of friends. My group consists of elementary friends I have known for quite some time and others are new friends I have g... ... middle of paper ... ...program director. Needless to say, I have changed my mind somewhere along my four years of high school and I now wish to go into the recreation leadership area for a career. Where I will go after post-secondary is not for sure set in stone as there are many branches in which to go from with recreation leadership but I want to try to work on a cruise ship in the recreational department. The four years I have been attending high school is four years of constant change in my personality, my athletics and my ambitions for the future. High school has made me more mature as well as helped me find my ways. High school I believe is the time in which defines and moulds the lives of teenagers. It is the time when we experiment and get to explore so many paths of life. By grade twelve however, we should have gotten it together and found a path to follow to our future.
High school is where I had gained an awareness about how what I 'm learning in school is going to benefit me in the real world. I learned an retain a variety of information because the things that I did learn I felt like you would need to know to survive in the real world. A perfect example of this is driver 's ed where I learned to drive something that I do everyday frequently. Another reason why I learned and retain so much I because when I got into high school is around the same time I got my first job. This definitely opened the door in showing me how what I 'm learning in school applies to everyday work activities such as knowing and counting money this is where math comes in. Being able to talk and communicate writing and verbally this is where English comes in. All things that I needed to do in everyday
High school was not a completely dreadful experience, but I did not get a really an exceptional education. As I entered high school, I thought it would be a whole new exciting chapter in my life. I started out as an involved student, and went through all of the Advance Placement and Honor classes, and managed to be at the top 12% of my class. In high school, I basically placed myself to enjoy it; I joined all of the extra curricular activities I was interested in. I was in band, tennis, swimming, dance team, and Key Club. Sometimes I was at school for about fourteen hours a day, four times a week.
It's quite difficult transitioning from being the biggest to back to being the smallest. In eighth grade, you've finally become comfortable with your peers, the school, and even the teachers, and it's gone in a matter of a couple months. My perception of high school was extremely terrifying because it was an academy where I didn't really know anyone because it was slightly far. It seems so easy when you already know someone at the school because they can help guide you around, but to a zoning that's a twenty minute distance it's difficult. I expected the least, honestly. I knew that the halls would be packed, getting to classes would be confusing, and teachers would continuously give homework, but no one said it would be so much more. Moving
Making the transition from middle school to high school is a huge stepping stone in a teenager’s life. High school represents both the ending of a childhood and the beginning of adulthood. It’s a rite of passage and often many teens have the wrong impression when beginning this passage. Most began high school with learning the last thing on their mind. They come in looking for a story like adventure and have a false sense of reality created through fabricated movie plots acted out by fictional characters. In all actuality high school is nothing like you see in movies, television shows, or what you read about in magazines.
As 9th graders grow they eventually mature into sophisticated young adults, this transformation takes place over time and occurs as they adjust to their new environment. By placing them in an environment in which they are separated from the high school community, their process of maturing is delayed and sometimes even halted.
The ways that I have changed and adjusted would be my hairstyle, my apparel, my attitude, the way that I act towards others, the way that I speak, and even the way I walk. The other thing that I have changed about myself would be the way that I treat others like being friendly and even the way my friends treat me has also changed in the way they respect me as one of their friends.
Five of the greatest years of your life occur throughout high school, what makes these years so great is not overly obvious until they’re actually over. You experience times that you’ll always remember; great sports moments with your favorite high school teams, and you get the great feeling of closeness and structure from the school, along with the people you’ll never forget; this half-decade serves as a great period to form new bonds that may or may not last an eternity, and to strengthen friendships that already existed going into this new period of life. When these years are done, you’ll be a changed person, in most cases, for the better.
This is the most important part of school. This is where grades matter most. This is where colleges start looking at people. Colleges are looking for people that are willing to do what it takes to be able to attend their colleges. High school is a little bit tougher and is where there is a lot of illegal drugs. High school ends on a graduation when twelfth grade is completed and the twelfth graders are going off to college. Then college comes. This is where it gets tough. People have to have their own schedules and know what their doing because they are now on their own. Classes are harder than you have ever imagined. You are put to the test of if you are ready to go on in life. Prepare for
High school is a time in life when teenagers learn a lot about themselves. Personally I learned that I have to work hard to get what I want and that I could do anything that I set my mind to. For me coming to Rockhurst High School was initially a struggle. Although I was had straight A's before high school, I soon realized that high school could not be compared to middle school. The school district I came from was nonaccredited at the time and did not prepare me to be well equipped in high school. I knew that coming from one of the worst public school districts in Kansas City to going to one of the top private high school schools in Missouri, would not be easy and I was up for the challenge. Starting out freshman year I noticed that my grades were not what I had hoped for them to be and became very worried. Instead of taking the easy way out and transferring to an easier school I decided to challenge myself and stay at Rockhurst. At the end of my freshman year I
A High schooler’s transition to college life can be difficult since time management becomes a major priority towards success. In other words, it is up to the student to finish assignments on time. As a previous high school student and now a college student, time management has become a constant concern of mine. My time management was significantly better in high school than college because I didn’t have hard assignments so I didn’t develop strategies for good time management.
Middle School is ending and it's almost time to start the next chapter of my life- high school. High school is often depicted as dramatic and stressful, both of which I expect it to be. I have many things I am eager for, many things I am not eager for, and many expectations.
I envision high school as an essential stepping stone for everyone. The era where every individual lacks the complete confidence in defining who they are or what they want to be. The four years of high school was the moment and opportunity to seek the interests that stood out to me the most. The experiences you make and the people you associate with are a crucial part of finding yourself.
My High School life has helped shape the way for my college experiences that I will face. My senior year in high school is not the same as many other high school students. I am taking many advanced classes to help me prepare for college. These classes help me better understand exactly how much harder I must work to succeed.
Going into freshman year of high school was something that hit me unexpectedly. I couldn’t believe that 4 years from then I would be graduating. To me it seemed like an eternity of course, as if I had all the time in the galaxy to relax before things would become more profound such as grades, time management skills, and independence.
Time flies so fast. Looking back, my high school is just like a movie, a lot of things happened. High School is four years of growing up and probably a time in your life where you go through the most changes. In high school you are able to discover yourself and find out who you are as a person. Each year is special and unique in their own way. My journey through high school was a tough one, especially because I decided to not only focus on academic work but also to invest quality time in extra curriculum activities. I wanted more than just academic excellence; I wanted to be a leader, I wanted to add value to every aspect of my life, I wanted a rounded education and not just mere schooling. My success story is what I will like to share with you; how I really made it and how this defines my personality. My journey in High School was scary, exciting, and successful.
