Deaf students should choose their career more carefully than normal students. Normal students can choose one from all careers, but Deaf students couldn’t so. Since all of careers are given to normal people. Deaf are able to specialize on almost all of careers, but they can’t work some working area. Sometimes it makes a barrier to choose a career for Deaf students. From this, Deaf students should become to do brainwork, and do more research on careers than normal people. If deaf students have chose wrong careers, it is hard to get a good job even they had get higher grades. Therefore, Deaf students should choose correct careers, especially their career should be fit with their future jobs.
I have some good ideas for choosing good careers to the Deaf students.
1. Choose a career that you really want and like to do. According to survey, people who likes in their career almost never bored from their jobs.
2. First do research, and become knowledgeable about careers, then find your career, and think critically about the bad or good side of your chose career.
3. Imagine where will you work after you graduate from a university.
4. Consider your talent. Most of people, who succeeded on their business, usually worked to follow their talent.
5. Look at the human resource of your chose career. If there are full of professionals, think that you can be better than them for your ability.
6. Do not think that you are deaf and it is hard to choose a career and get a job. Deaf are able to possess most of careers.
In my opinion, social career might be not good for Deaf people, in lieu of it realistic, investigative, artistic, and enterprising careers might be more successful. Although, there are deaf doctors, lawyers, and politicians in some countries, it depends on their native country’s development, and the number of Deaf inhabitants.
There are some ways such as to discuss with people, read information, and use network or other resources to find a career. Arguing about careers with people such as your family’s member, friends, co-workers, and even school career counselors is may good way to choose a correct career. Also working experience can be the greatest influence to choose a career for the deaf. Since, Deaf students tend to more embrace something that they are seeing than something that they heard indirectly. That is why, many students choose their career while they are studying or working.
In the following chapters, there is an extensive amount of knowledge to learn about how Deaf culture is involved in our modern world. The pages assigned give us an outlook of how Deaf people are treated in our daily life, and how we should learn from it. Its gives a clear line between what are myths and what are facts, to those who are curious about the Deaf community or have specific questions. This book has definitely taught me new things that I could put to good use in the near future. In specific chapters, my mind really opened up to new ideas and made me think hard about questions, like “why don’t some Deaf people trust hearing people,” or “do we need another ‘Deaf president now’ revolution?” I realized many new things in the course of reading this book, and have recommended this to my family.
My response to this question is two-fold. Firstly, I believe that (for the most part), Deaf people actually like being deaf. While observing my neighbor (who happens to be deaf), I realize, he is never unpleasant, he keeps an unceasing smile on his face, is eager to help us hearing neighbors whenever applicable, and in general, he always looks for the silver lining in the clouds. I don’t think that I could ever work up the nerve to ask him if he’d desired the ability to hear. I’ve never seen him preoccupied with his inability to hear, so why should I. His deafness is a part of who he is. In our book, it mentions that being Deaf is a part of the individuals’ personality, an attribute just as important to a person that is right or left-handed. Why would Deaf people want to be hearing? If a person is born deaf, such as my neighbor, they don’t find themselves missing what they never experienced. The problem faced by the deaf community is the injustice they encounter in the criminal justice system. Someone who is deaf or hard of hearing has at least a 50 percent loss of hearing in one ear (Ridgeway 2009), and some may be able to read lips. However, only 12 of all spoken sounds can be translated into American Sign Language (Ridgeway 2009), which makes it difficult for the deaf to communicate without using sign language. Because English and sign language are not the same language, many deaf people are illiterate because of a lack of schooling past a certain age. Even those with schooling up to the age of 18 or older are often functionally illiterate, read at a grade level of second grade or below, and have unintelligible speech (Vernon 2010).
Deaf Culture is often misunderstood because the hearing world thinks of deafness as a handicap. The Deaf are not given enough credit for their disabilities even though they are unable to hear. Being misunderstood is the biggest reason why they are not accepted in the world of hearing. The learning process for them may be slower and more difficult to learn, but they are still very bright individuals. The problem at hand is the controversy of trying to “fix” the Deaf when they may or may not want to be “fixed”. The documentary of “Through Deaf Eyes” has open my eyes to the deaf culture. The movie has made it “click” that deaf people are just that people and individuals like me. Deaf community has its struggles just like everyone else. They struggle with growing into who they are as a person, harmful situations, and feeling a sense of belonging. They just speak a different language like Italians and Hispanics. Communicating with a different language does not make them lesser than a hearing person. When able to learn to communicate, the deaf are able to learn and gain knowledge just like a hearing person. The only difference is they have to learn more and work harder to achieve their goals and gain knowledge, which a hearing person learns just by hearing their surroundings.
Choosing a vocation can be a daunting task. With the world ever-evolving, one may come across a new attractive career every year. In order to ensure optimal job satisfaction, it is vital to educate oneself about every alluring prospect prior to committing. Simple factors like the time commitment and salary can mean the difference between a content existence and a miserable one.
Societies could also come together so that it can enable D/deaf individuals to bond with and show hearing people how to communicate accurately and fluently. This will allow D/deaf individuals to feel like they belong in their community, which will make them feel a sense of security and also enables them to feel less isolated.

After exploring two very different careers, it was interesting to see what I found. A Business Executive and an art therapist have very little in common.
Provided with the viewpoints on both the medical model and social model of disability, it is clear that these two concepts differ in terms of the definition of disability as well as the attitude of society towards people with disabilities. It is evident that people with disabilities veer towards the social model rather than the medical model. It is essential to acknowledge that Deafness is categorised as a medical disability within the individual as well as a societal disability, as society is not equipped enough to deal with the communication barriers that stem from hearing impairments.
There are four components which can be expressed by every culture and they include language, values, behavioral norms and traditions according to Deaf & hard of hearing – Deaf culture fact sheet, (2015). These factors have thereby led to the differences in. By comparing the three cultures will help and individual have a better perspective and understanding what their values and beliefs are thereby defining their differences.
So today, I have shared with you my journey in deafness. Being deaf can be hard, but it is not the end of the world. I can do what anyone else can do such as talk, play sports and hang out with friends. Every person’s journey is different. For me the key to success is perseverance.
