Homosexuality Is a Mental Illness
The history of gay or same sex marriages has been long in the whole world. Most of the western societies in the early time tolerated it. Astonishingly, they went to an extent of celebrating the same sex relationships and marriages. In ancient Rome, there are evidences of the same sex marriages but their proof is not clear. Same sex marriages can also be traced in medieval Europe and also the ancient Greece. There are also some other proofs of gay marriages among Africans Native Americans.
There have been a lot of evidences which shows that homo sexual desire has been recorded from primordial times in the east part of the globe. This yearning is the reason behind gay unions, normally between men. It repeatedly included some variation in age. There has been very rare information on relationships amongst women in early times. This could be because women were not treated with equal status with men, such that while men were free to practice sexual and romantic pleasure both without and within marriage, women were not allowed (www.gay-art-history.org).
In China, Male love was quite encouraged especially in Fujian, the southern province. Men would marry youths in sophisticated ceremonies. These marriages would last long. At the last part of this marriage, the senior partner would help the younger partner find a female wife so that he could settle down and start a family. At the west, ancient Greece gives us the first western documents regarding gay relationships. In ancient Greece, gay relationships and marriages were a norm in the society. Fortunately, these relationships did not substitute marriage between woman and a man, but occurred beside or before it.
During Hellenic times in Europ...

...s morality. Since time in memorial, same sex relationship is deemed immoral and it will remain immoral forever. Allowing this thing to happen openly is to send a bad message to God, the people and the sanity will have been undermined. This goes against gods teaching and according to the holy Bible; it is the same reasons that made Sodom and Gomorrah to be burnt down. The same thing can still happen today.

Homosexuality existed since ancient times, for example in Ancient Greece, where it was evident through many literary and artistic works claiming that “pederasty” which means homoerotic relations between adult men and adolescent boys were very common. The adult male was called “Erastes” which means the “older lover” who was usually the role mode...
In Greek myth and pottery there are plenty of stories of the promiscuous or abducted woman who is pursued by a man such as with the story of Hades and Persephone, but not so often are women shown or talked about as having sexual lives of their own with people of the same-sex. This would lead many to believe that women of this time were solely engaged in sexual activity with men and that men had the advantage of sliding between both worlds. Nevertheless, evidence has been found that moves towards women having sexual encounters with other women. Women formed these type of support network, when their men were off frolicking with each other, to provide each other with comfort and sexual pleasures. In saying that, it is also important to know that the origin of the word lesbian is the Lesbos island of Greece. The stories tell of a lesbian woman who denied Zeus and invoked his wrath, of which he used to put a spell on the island of Lesbos where she was from. After forty years, Zeus lifted the spell and there were no sexually mature men left on Lesbos Island and women were sexually...
In 1992, Vice-President Dan Quayle said that homosexuality "is more of a choice than a biological situation...It is a wrong choice." (1). Quayle's statement counters the sentiment of many homosexuals that their sexual orientation is neither a lifestyle nor a personal choice, it is innate and unchangeable (2) . Is homosexuality a choice or does sexual preference have a biological basis? This question is at the forefront of academic, scientific, political, legal and media consciousness (3). The debate over homosexuality has influenced a myriad of research in finding a biological cause for differences in sexual behavior.

The earliest western documents depicting homosexuality came from ancient Greece and Rome where same sex relationships were a societal norm and very common. These relationships did not replace marriage between a man and a woman; rather, they occurred before and alongside marriage. They were based on emotional connections or physical attractions and valued as a means of population control (The Homosexual Theme, 2005). Shortly after, beautiful odes began to be written in Persia and Arab lands to wine boys who served men in taverns and shared their beds in the evening.
The beginning of this short research essay began with the author explaining what the essay will be about. This essay primarily focuses on the differences and similarities of sexuality between men, women, gays, and lesbians. It also focuses on time, because throughout time, human sexuality has changed. New scientific evidence has also helped give new insight to the human mind and their most basic needs.
Roman social customs are fairly well known, and same-sex unions occurred as high in society as among Roman emperors. Roman statesman Cicero also documented legal rights of an individual within a same-sex marriage. Female same-sex unions were not as common, but only because women enjoyed less freedom in their economic and social endeavors (Eskridge, 1996).Hinduism and Buddhism tend to view homosexuality primarily from the standpoint of its karmic effects, with varying conclusions (Ishay,
Aristophanes thinks that a human’s love is clearly “a lack” – a lack of one’s other half- and having no meant to satisfy themselves they begin to die. Zeus, having failed to foresee this difficulty repairs the damage by inventing sexual reproduction (191 b-c). Any “embracements” of men with men or of women with women would of course be sterile – though the participants would at least “have some satiety of their union and a relief,” (191 c) and therefore would be able to carry on the work of the world. Sex, therefore, is at this stage a drive, and the object is defined only as human. Sexual preferences are to emerge only as the human gains experience, enabling them to discover what their “original form” had been.
The topic of homosexuality in religion has many sides. There are those who believe that it is a sin in God’s eyes and according to the Bible, and there are those who believe the God and the Bible are not specific to homosexuals. It is a tough debate based on whether you are a religious person, how you were raised, and where your morals and ethics stand. You cannot truly believe one way without taking into account the other side and have valid proof to back it up.
The sexual orientation of a person has been a critical debate over the past several centuries. For several...
Homosexuality is a word used for people who like same-sex people. If you had a person that was male and he was a homosexual he would like another male instead of a women, it also goes with a women. I know a few people who are homosexual's, they are very dear to me. I think that people should just let people love who they want, it is really none of there business.

For many years, psychologists described homosexuality as a disorder or a treatable complex. Recently, homosexuality was removed from the DSM and is no longer considered a disorder. The gay population is no longer treated as sick but accepted as a diverse set of individuals. The many distinguishing attributes and characteristics of a gay or lesbian individual are considered to be personality attributes.
The first reference to lesbian love in Indian Literature was in the Rig Veda. According to Gita Thalani there were legislations against lesbian love, validating only procreative sex. The code of Manu contains the punishments meted out to women engaging in homosexual acts, a virgin girl who engages in love-making with another deserves the punishment of being fined and beaten. Thus we see that lesbianism and homosexuality were not only present in ancient India, but were also suppressed and punished.
