This report is going to talk about history of operating system, current development of the Open Source operating system (we are taking Linux operating system) and Windows operating system, evolving of operating system and comparison between Open Source and Proprietary System such as Windows. Besides that, we will take a deep look on how old operating system is being replaced by modern operating system in this fast developed technology era on evolving of operating system part.
Here we will introduce a little bit about what is operating system, basic function on operating system and some popular example of operating system. When you turn on your computer, it is feel nice that you have control. It is feels easy like a director in front of the screen. Actually there are a lot of things inside and the real man behind who handles those things is called operating system (abbreviate as OS). OS is a software program enables computer hardware and software to communicate with each other, control and manage computer memory and processes.
General purpose for an OS is to run program. It also can perform basic task such as received input, display output, keep and delete files, multitasking in nowadays and control peripheral such as mouse and keyboard. Without OS, a computer is useless because it allow us to communicate with computer without knowing computer “language”. The most popular operating system at this time are Microsoft Windows like Windows 8 (released in 2012), Windows 7 (2009), Windows Vista (2007) and *Windows XP (Microsoft stop supporting at 8 April 2014), Apple’s Mac OS and Linux.
While Microsoft Windows and Linux can be installed on standard personal computer but Mac OS only can run on Macintosh computer. Operating system can also...

This paper discusses about the historical event that takes place within the operating system and their recent development and progression. Therefore it is essential to have a clear comprehension on the operating system that is still accessible to recognize its fundamental strengths and weaknesses. Hence, it is imperative to evaluate the operating system we are reviewing to distinguish between them. Meanwhile, this paper also inspects on the difference between the open source and proprietary operating system. The discussion is mainly about the feature and application used in different operating system.

Computers are a fascinating part of many people’s lives. Many people, including me, complain about using different operating systems claiming how one specific operating system is the easiest to use. I remember having a conversation with my sister about the simplicity of a Mac OS compared to a Windows operating system. Our conversation started with my sister stating that:
This document describes the final project for the course COEN 283 – Operating System. The project is team oriented, main goal is to select a topic related the Operating System concepts that should be either theoretical, in which new algorithm is analysis and simulate, in which subsystem/driver of an OS is prototyped. Provide the simulation/implementation code and explain the detail design in this report. This project will provide opportunity for students to perform research on topic of interest of operating system.
The GNU/Linux operating system will likely continue to grow in popularity throughout the decade initially with hackers and then with consumers.
limits the network access, in other words, it recognizes the internet accessibility level of the user. In addition, when a virus attacks the computer it directly downloads or deletes the appropriate information. On the other hand, Windows 10 has a different strategy to secure its system by isolating the applications that run on devices in a hardware-based virtual environment. Although, Windows security system has developed dramatically over time, Mac OS X is still less vulnerable to viruses and other malware.
Not long ago computers were non-existent in many homes. When computers were first introduced to the world, they were for the sole purpose of performing business functions. The only people who owned computers were large organizations. Eventually, computers were introduced into the homes of those who could afford to buy them. Today, just about everyone owns some form of system that they use daily to help manage their day-to-day operations. What many once survived without now seems impossible to do without. As technology continues to grow, it has a greater effect on families and the education system. Some companies such as Microsoft and Apple made it possible to reinvent a new form of technology that would change the world. Each company had some form of struggle and overtime had to keep up with the changes of time and the way people communicated. From the first day of its invention, organizations have had to steadily implement new operating systems to keep up with the demands of the people while staying afloat with competitors. The ways of life for many have changed as well as the way people communicate. It is evident that the history and uses of computers have changed the world but these computers could not perform without the operating systems. Various operating systems will be discussed, how they began and how they each changed since they were first introduced. Although, they all had a purpose each varied in how they performed and changed the lives of many and will continue in the near future.

One of the most popular areas of contention among computer users has always been what operating system was preferred. There have been countless advertising campaigns touting one over the other. One of the most recent would be the ad that featured one person exclaiming, “Hi, I’m a Mac” and another “Hi, I’m a PC” with intention to promote Apple over Microsoft. While Apple and Microsoft have been squaring off for many years there has been another contender rising through the ranks, Linux and its many distributions.
Linux has long been one of many operating systems that have been out to prove its worth in all types of environment. It is currently being considered for enterprise network purposes as well as data centers where it implies servers, workstations and any mainframes as needed. Choosing what operating system to use, whether it is open source or not, can be difficult, though. This paper projects the advantages and concerns of choosing an open source solution like Linux as administrators and users are becoming more aware of Linux running on both server and desktop systems. It is quickly being adopted in an ever increasing number of global corporations and government agencies.
In the early days of DOS programming, there were many variations, but MS-DOS did not start out as a Microsoft product. CP/M was designed by Gary Kildall, called the man who could have been Bill Gates. As Steve Hamm from Business Week states:
Q:18Compare UNIX, Linux and windows in form of table, the table should contain five differences.
...space. This allowed the user to easily navigate a computer screen any time, anywhere.” (Musolf). “On October 25, 2001, Windows XP is discharged with an updated look and feel that is fixated on convenience and a brought together Help and Support administrations focus. It's accessible in 25 dialects. From the mid-1970s until the arrival of Windows XP, about 1 billion Pcs have been sent around the world.”(Windows). Windows 8 is a reimagined working framework, from the chipset to the client encounter, and presents a completely new interface that works easily for both touch and mouse and console. Windows 8 is a reimagined working framework, from the chipset to the client encounter, and presents a completely new interface that works easily for both touch and mouse and console. Microsoft has grown massively over the years, and they keep continuing to get better and better.
An Operating system is system software that controls the system’s hardware that interacts with users and the application software. As we all may know, Windows Microsoft has always been a commercial high-level sale in the retail industry and an in domain operating system used today. But there are more operating systems than just Windows Microsoft than the general population may assume. Linux is another well-known operating systems, which is free and open-source software. Linux is also used in companies we would have never thought of like Google, NASA, USPS, Amazon and many more companies. Linux and Microsoft operating systems have been in competition to see which one is the best operating system in the market. There are so many resemblances
Windows 7 is the first widely adopted 64 bit Operating System in the Microsoft family. It addressed a lot of security issues and greatly improved performance and some of the features from its predecessors. It has matured to a stable and reliable Operating System and holds the majority stake of being installed on most personal computers worldwide.
