The death of someone important is very tragic and can be life-changing. There are people in this world who are careless enough to kill a living person. An assassination is the murder of a person by a surprise attack. There has been many political assassinations around the world. Each murder is different, with different motives and conspiracies, but in the end they are just a cruel act of violence directed to someone innocent. The United States does not have more assassinations than other countries; there has been more assassinations in other countries around the world. Assassinations occur because some people are against their political leaders or are mentally deranged, who just chose their victim at random. I will talk about the assassinations of some very important people in history: Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr, and Mahatma Gandhi. Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States, serving from March 1861 until his death in April 1865. He was the first president to be was assassinated. He was assassinated, by a famous actor named John Wilkes Booth, 5 days after the American Civil War had ended. John Wilkes attempted kidnapping the president on March 20th 1865, but he failed. On April 14, 1865 President Lincoln attended a comedy performance of “Our American Cousin” at the Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C. He sat in a private box above the stage with his wife, an army officer named Henry Rathbone and his fiancé. At about 10:15pm, Booth sneaked in the private box and fired his gun into the back of Lincoln’s head and stabbed Rathbone. He escaped by jumping into the stage, breaking his leg, and left Washington on horseback. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, also known as Mahatma Gandhi, was born on October 2, 1869 and died on January 30, 1948. He was an Indian political and spiritual leader. On January 30th at 5:15 pm, Gandhi was entering the Biria house gardens where he deliver a daily prayer in New Delhi, India when he was approached by Nathura Vinayak Godse, a Hindu nationalist, who shot Gandhi three times. As written in an article in the New York Times, “His death left all India stunned and bewildered as to the direction that this newly independent nation would take without its ‘mahatma’ (Great Teacher).” The strongest influence for peace in India was dead. There were several riots in Bombay, after receiving the news of the assassination, killing fifteen persons and injuring more than fifty.

The assassin must have qualities of being determined, courage and intelligence to make the mission successful. Assassination is a long process of planning. It can take even years just to plan an assassination of a victim. Often times, assassination planning cannot be on paper because it can be evidence. The most common ways of assassination are using weapons, drugs, accidents and explosives. Surprisingly, the most common way of assassination is by gun. There can be many motives for assassination such as jealousy, political or religious ideas, revenge and etc. There are many famous assassinations. The assassination of Julius Caesar is very famous. Julius Caesar was Roman political figure, who was later was made the dictator of Rome, that was assassinated by the Senators.

On November 22, 1963, American history changed forever. That day the presidential motorcade of President John F. Kennedy traveled down Elm Street in Dallas, Texas. The killers were all majorly angry, they wanted prominence, and they did not believe in how everything was turning out to be. They were four innocent men that were trying to make a difference in the world, but were killed due to the fact that they wanted purely wanted change to be brought to the world.
