By the time Nate returned to the ridge, the agents had gone. He stayed low as he slipped down the cliff and crossed the road into the woods. The agents had left Hajji's car. But Nate hadn't seen them leave, so he couldn't be sure they weren't camouflaged and hiding in the wood. He didn't think so because there was no reason to keep watch, the car's movement could still be tracked through the GPS. But no way had they given up that easy. They probably had people at key points and lots more would probably be coming soon. It occurred to him that they might already have searched the house. Nate turned and headed for the farm. He eyed the back porch wearily as he approach, wondering if an agent was inside. He entered through the kitchen and did a search from room to room. Coast clear. It was one o'clock and his grandparents weren't back. He still hadn't tidied the kitchen the way he promised and went downstairs to get it done. At two-thirty, Nate started to worry. Suppose the agents had taken his grandparents while he was out and now held them for questioning because a terrorist's car had been found on their property? Could federal agents do that? Should he call his parents? Nate went to the music room and dialed first his mom's cell and then his dad's, but got an out of area message for both. Now he knew why his mom wouldn't give up their landline. It was the only way to get a connection between her and her parents. He dialed their home phone, but got the answering machine. He didn't want to worry his parents and just left a message that he had called and that they should call back if they got a chance. He slump in the chair by the phone and jumped when it rang. "Oh, Nathan, there you are. Where have you been? We were worrie... ... middle of paper ... ...ey find this place, I think they will have both exits covered, but you are right. It is best to remain in the middle." "We should probably turn off the lights too. You stay here. I'll go get some flashlights." Nate went down the steps and hurried to the laundry room. He took two of the flashlights his grandparents kept there. Passing through the kitchen again, he grabbed a bunch of bananas and tucked an apple under his arm. When he returned, Hajji was sitting on the floor of the middle landing. Nate switch off the alcove light and on his way up, flipped on a flashlight. He handed Hajji the second flashlight then killed the light on the middle landing as well. He stepped around Hajji then handed him the fruit. Nate leaned against the wall that braced the middle landing and slid to the floor. Just as his rump hit the bottom, the wall behind him shifted inward.
The comparisons and contrasts between The Hiding Place and Night. Both books were written with struggles, tenderness, agony, and fear in mind. Of these two books only one comes out and realizes that what they have gone through was not a cruse but some what a blessing from God, Himself. The struggles both face is more than just man against man but it is also a struggle within to find who they truly are and whom they truly believe in. Both main characters, Eli and Corrie, faced something they never knew they could face but only one comes out stronger than the other.
The book I would like to tell you about is called Among the Hidden. The author of this book is Margaret Peterson Haddix. In this book, there is a boy named Luke Garner who has never been able to leave his backyard. He has only been able to quickly peak through blinds for fear of being seen. Until the day the workers started cutting the trees down, Luke was able to experience a little fresh air while rough-housing with his brothers in their isolated backyard farmland. The reason for this is because of the population law. The government believed that there wasn’t enough food to feed the growing population, so they made the law that there is only a maximum of two children allowed in each family. That meant that Luke was an illegal third child. He had spent his whole life hiding from the population police. Since the government forced the Garners to sell a lot of their farmland for building houses, Luke had to stay inside, because now that the trees were being cut down he had a huge chance of being seen in his backyard. Luke spent most of his days in the attic where his room was. He found some little vents in the wall that he could look out of and see the people that moved into the big, fancy houses. One day, he noticed somebody peeking out of the house next door, even after he knew that everybody in that family had left. He knew this because he kept a little record on the wall and marked down when the people of each family came and left. He even knew how many people there were i...

As I look back at the first paper I wrote for this class, I see lots of things I needed to improve on. I was simple minded in many of my ideas that I wrote about. Throughout the paper I only elaborated on a few thoughts and ideas. It all could have been summed up in two paragraphs. My opening paragraph talked about my whole paper. "A university education is important to me. By getting a degree in geography I hope to improve my knowledge and increase my chances for a good job. Not only will I gain knowledge but also gain the experience of university life as a student. By receiving my education I will prepare myself for a job and improve my communication with other people."
My unforgettable senior football season was coming to a close. The whole team knew that this was the last game of football we would ever play together. After this game, it would never be the same. I had been waiting my whole life to experience what I was about to face in the next few hours.
"If freedom is short of weapons, we must compensate with willpower" (Hitler 5). During the 1930's in the light of Hitler's Nazi Germens, they decided to invade all the Jewish countries. People were terrorized, forced to leave their homes and either go to concentration camps or find hiding spots. This war went on for many years. One of the most famous hiding spots of all though, which housed eight people was called "The Secret Annex". This is where the Frank and the Van Pels family stayed for twenty-five months. They took shelter because they knew the war was getting close. This is about Anne Frank, and her courageous efforts on surviving, not only in the battle against the Germans but also as a young girl.

Summary: In the quiet town of Malgudi, in the 1930's, there lived Savitri and her husband, Ramani. They lived with their three children, Babu, Kamala, and Sumati. Savitri was raised with certain traditional values that came into internal conflict when she took Ramani, a modern executive, as her husband. Savitri has endured a lot of humiliations from her temperamental husband and she always puts up with his many tantrums. To find solace and escapism, she takes refuge in 'the dark room', a musty, unlit, storeroom in the house. But when Ramani takes on a beautiful new employer, Savitri finds out that her husband has more than a professional interest in the woman. So, at first, she tries to retreat to her dark room. But she realises that hiding in there won't help. So she tries to leave the house. She stayed with a friend in another village. But after staying there for some time, she can't help but think of her husband and their children. What would happen to them? After doing a lot of thinking, she finally decides to go back home. In the end, Ramani has finally stopped seeing Shanta Bai, the other woman, and I guess you could say it's a happy ending. It's now up to you to go and guess the rest. Savitri is very much real. She is basically quite like most people. They treat problems like that. They find ways to escape it. Like booze, drugs, suicide, etc. In Servitor¡¯s case, she stays in the dark room, and finally, leaves her family. As I was reading "The Dark Room¡±, I felt compassion towards Savitri. I can clearly see that she was a confused woman. It was depicted through the first part of the story wherein her son was ill and she told Babu, her son, not to go to school that day. But Ramani intruded upon them and said that Babu has to go to school and that his illness is merely a headache. Savitri didn't know what to do then. She was concerned for Babu¡¯s health, but at the same time, she didn't want to argue with Ramani. In the end, Babu had gone off to school. As for Ramani, I felt like shouting at him while reading the novel because of his bullying.
