Gun Violence and Children in the United States

In recent years a great deal of attention has been centered on youth violence. Numerous studies have been conducted on children of all races who are subjected to gun violence. However, violent behaviors start from within the environment where children have been exposed too. Household, poor communities and school as well have put children at risk. Yet the problems of violence relatively are increasing according to Children’s Defense fund that gets their information from the Center of Disease Control and Prevention, and other government statistics. It should be examined further since multiple acts of violent behaviors with guns continued to plague our society. In what ways can we stop gun violence from killing our children? Psychologists are interested in this question, and one answer is stop protecting firearms.

Gun violence, have the tendency for youths to experience hardships of violence by other youths. Continuous studied on firearm show the increase of death that’s occurring with children in the U.S., ranging from ages 0-20 needs to be rectify (Children Defense Fund). In 2007, more recent studies by Children’s Defense Fund provided more statistical information on children and young adults of all races, who are subjected to gun violence, has triple since 2007. These finding suggest that vulnerable children are dying from the lack of gun control. Adolescence is a time for continue growth development, which many of the risk factors involving teenage violence is becoming more prevalent with children of all ages. More children and young adults are killed by firearms than from all other death related issues combine (Irwin, Berg & Cart, 2002). However for the protection of these magnificent little human beings it’s important to consider such factors and began to put fort much efforts involving the communities’ at large and continue to advocate for the elimination of firearm out the homes and off the streets. Guns are characterized by abuse, so what account for it but harm and death amongst our children.
