The Green Deal is a policy launched by the Department of for Energy and Climate Change in the United Kingdom that aims to take a large step towards greater energy efficiency. This measure was initially discussed in 2011 but officially launched in June of 2012. The United Kingdom has an energy consumption rate of nearly 3000 kgoe per annum, which is reasonably high (See Appendix 1). The deal ultimately provides consumers with energy efficient techniques that would cost less than standard equipment in the long term. The Green Deal encourages consumers to do this as it provides them with loans, which can be paid back through the energy bills (Richards). Using energy inefficiently is a negative externality as the activity of energy wastage imposes costs on society, as there is a shortage of nonrenewable energy. There is a high social cost, as the private cost is high as energy wastage is inefficient and external costs include the cost to society by making energy scarce. This also eventually is the path to sustainable development, which is one of the macroeconomic objectives of every economy (Pettinger). At the end of this analysis, this report will directly address the research question to make a concluding statement, “To what extent was the UK government successful in reducing the externality of energy consumption in the United Kingdom through the Green Deal?” The government of the United Kingdom believed this measure would be effective in reducing the externality of energy consumption.

In theory, the concept of the Green Deal seems perfect. The homes in Britain are considered ‘draughty’ and by implementing energy-saving techniques such as insulation, draught proofing, double-glazing these homes can become more energy effici...

The Green Party of Canada, also known as the GPC, is a minor Canadian federal political party that is known for preaching ecological wisdom. Founded in November of 1983 in Ottawa, GPC currently holds one seat in the House of Commons. GPC was highly motivated by observing the West German Green Party, which overcome great odds to win 27 parliamentary seats.2 Over the past several years, GPC has made remarkable strides to advance its political platform and gain a voice in the House of Commons. In 2000, GPC received only 0.8% of the votes and received zero seats in the House. However, GPC heavily improved in the 2004 federal election, winning 4.3% of the votes. After this “electoral breakthrough,” GPC earned a great deal of respect and garnered attention in the mass media.2 More importantly, by receiving 4.3% of the votes, GPC qualified for federal funding. By doing so, GPC received much-needed subsidies that would eventually play a huge role in its emergence in Canadian politics. Four years later in the 2008 federal election, GPC received 6.8% of the votes to ensure that green issues would be discussed in policy agendas of Canadian government.
Climate change has been a major topic of debate in the UK over the recent years. The need to reduce the impact of CO2 and other Green House Gases (GHG) on the environment has pushed the UK Government to enact legislations (e.g. Climate Change Act 2008) and impose strict regulations on businesses to reduce emissions. These actions have forced businesses across a wide range of industrial sectors to rethink and rework their strategies of utilising energy, transport and land in an efficient manner, which in turn has lead to innovative and at the same time simple yet effective methods to reduce carbon emissions.
Have you ever heard the expression “saving money is making money”? If someone offered to put hundreds of dollars a year in your pocket would that interest you? In this paper, we will discuss how it is possible to not only put money back in your pocket each year but also how you can do your part to make our environment a healthier and more environmentally friendly place. This is all made possible by owning an Energy Star Rated Home (ESRH). My goal is to bring to light the overall benefits associated with owning an ESRH for the homeowner as well as the environment. To achieve this goal, I will define Energy Star, give a brief description of the history of the program, discuss the requirements that must be met to qualify

Jill Stein is the Green Party candidate running for President of the United States of America. The Green Party views are focused on improving the middle class and helping the environment. Since 2015 was the hottest year on record and 2016 is most likely to beat that, Jill Stein’s plan for the economy is the Green New Deal. Although I am young, I’m not too concerned with global warming. I feel scientists will come up with ways to handle global warming, for example GMOs. The Green New Deal focusses on creating jobs by investing in clean energy and green jobs. The idea of green jobs has been seen as the possible renewal of the labor market. The government has been viewed by many economists as the savior of the failing market by investing in new
Green construction is growing rapidly because it is an alternative to expensive polluting fossil fuels in view of global climate change. Green aspects include helping the environment and can increase the amount of green (money) in one’s wallet. Today there is an enormous push toward investing in green technology and implementing green appliance usage and devices in older homes, newer homes and even homes under construction. There is also a push in the United States to decrease its dependence on fossil fuels to combat climate change, decrease pollution, the trade imbalance, and dependence of foreign oil. The objective of this paper is to explore a selection of green appliances on the market and how investing in them now will pay off in future years to come.

The United States of America is known as the “Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. America earned this nickname and has one of, if not the most productive economy in the world. However, one area that the United States shows great room for improvement in is the politics of energy. There’s plenty of ways that I believe America should begin preserving energy and become much more energy sufficient in general.Energy efficiency is defined as a way of managing and restraining the growth in energy consumption. In other words, using less energy in order to provide the same services. Since the late 1900’s, many countries around the world have been installing guidelines to improve energy efficiency. America’s energy intensity and efficiency ratings are nearly the lowest worldwide, due to its current debt, the immense population, and the nations recent budget cuts.
... and to promote further development, local authorities in China should has a role in encouraging better design through regulation, example and by funding energy advice schemes. Firstly, China already and should push some more compulsory standards in energy conversation of construction through making policies throughout the whole nation. Furthermore, UK government has already aware that they can not expect the private sector to follow green practices if government does not set an example. Thus China government should set more examples of green building, particularly in commercial buildings and be strongly suggested that all of governmental constructions should be “green” first. Lastly, government also should take the effect in funding advice schemes which offer energy guidelines, publicize best practice, and undertake monitoring of the performance of green buildings.
Global warming and other catastrophes are always in the news these day. There are so many movements to save the environment and to limit our carbon footprint. A recent trend in building to help out with the environment is called Green Building. Green Building is energy efficient building that saves money, energy and helps the planet out. Green building is a viable alternative to traditional materials that everyone can benefit from.
As a society, every human need to have the will and power to invest in advocates of society and nature. Now is the chance for the economy to put the cap on our money and do away with energy issues. Every individual needs to determine necessary steps to make green behavior a law in an effort to save energy, protect the environment, and improve the economy.
Household energy conservation is a very practical and realistic approach to conserving energy within our society. US households consume a tremendous amount of natural gas as well as electric energy. It has been calculated that the amount of energy consumed within the US increased exponentially from about 1850 to 1975. If energy continued to increase at this rate, we would be experiencing severe energy shortages in our current society. Luckily, steps towards conservation, including various energy regulations, have curbed that growth somewhat, brining the predicted 160 Qbtu/yr for the year 2000 down to around 93.8 Qbtu/yr by the year 1996. However, household energy usage is still a major issue as households consume about 38% of the total consumed energy and contribute greatly to natural gas consumption and issues such as global warming. Therefore, it is important that people understand how we use energy in the household and what steps can be taken to conserve that energy.
