The Greatest Muslim Achievements
The Muslim community has achieved very much in the past. The Muslims wouldn’t have accomplished what they have without the smart minds of the past. Today the Muslim community would not be as progresses as it is now. The religion Islam has accomplished many different milestones that some religions only hope to accomplish. We find that Islam is a very strict and serious religion. They have rules and guidelines lines that seem silly or weird to other religions. To Muslim those rules are normal and need to be followed. The Muslims accomplished more than we know. Without them some of the world’s communities wouldn’t have some of the very important knowledge we use today.
One of the greatest achievements that the Muslim community accomplished was the hijra. This was a turning point in the rise of Islam. Muhammad tried hard to have Islam an accepted religion. In 622 Muhammad was threatened of murder. He and his followers stop trying to teach Islam to Mecca. They moved on to Yathrib. Yathrib was later renamed Medina. Medina is now a city in Saudi Arabia. The journey from Mecca to Yathrib was called the hijra. In Medina Muhammad and his followers were accepted. The people there welcomed Islam and decided to start practicing it. They became the muslim community or umma. Rules were created If Muhammad hadn’t gone to Medina Islam wouldn’t have been accepted. Today Islam wouldn’t have been one of the largest practiced religion if Muhammad hadn’t gone to Medina.

The muslim community is very proud of what they have done, and they should be. Islam is a very interesting and amazing religion. They have great history and many amazing accomplishments.

For example, the spread of Islam to the Byzantines and the Persians. The other caliphs (Umar, Uthman and Ali) expanded the Islamic empire rapidly and grew faster than any other religion. The Muslims conquered a massive amount of land from the Indus River, across North Africa and into Spain. There were many factors that helped Islam succeed; for example, people would rather fight for God and their salvation instead of fighting for a king, the use of military force by the Muslims and how easy it was to convert to Islam.

Islam, a religion of people submitting to one God, seeking peace and a way of life without sin, is always misunderstood throughout the world. What some consider act of bigotry, others believe it to be the lack of education and wrong portrayal of events in media; however, one cannot not justify the so little knowledge that America and Americans have about Islam and Muslims. Historically there are have been myths, many attacks on Islam and much confusion between Islam as a religion and Middle Easter culture that is always associated with it. This paper is meant to dispel, or rather educate about the big issues that plague people’s minds with false ideas and this will only be touching the surface.

The culture of Islam has its positive aspects, as well as its negative aspects. Islam bestowed many unfortunate people the opportunity to gain more knowledge about their surroundings, and the adversities that they may face on a daily basis. While the events of September 11, 2001, cast the Islam religion in an unfavorable light, this has not dampened the enthusiasm of the Muslim members, nor has it stopped the Islam religion from growing. Obviously, with over one billion members worldwide, Islam is one of the largest religions in the world today.

During the seventh century Prophet Muhammad ibn Abdallah spread his teachings around the Arabian Peninsula, who previously had very few feelings towards a religion or a higher power. He was born in Mecca, now the city that all Muslims must make a pilgrimage to during their lifetime. At the age of 40, he began to experience spiritual dreams and visions all pointing towards the belief that there is “only one, all-powerful God.” Because of his attempt to spread the belief system he reigned to be true, he was kicked out of his birth land and traveled to other places attempting to spread the word of Allah. After 23 years of receiving these messages from Allah he memorized and recited them which his followers wrote down and were later incorporated in the Quran, the holy book of Islam. In 622, Muhammad moved to Yathrib, there he converted the individual tribes to an integrated populace following his teachings. The impact made on these people caused Yathrib to be known as “the Prophet’s City.” Once Islam became prominent enough he was allowed back into Mecca and not only was he unbanned but he was welcomed with open arms.
Islam is a monotheistic religion that follows the scared text called the Qu'ran. Born in 570 C.E., Muhammad was believed to be a messenger and prophet of god. In 610 C.E., Muhammad claims that he was visited by the Angel Gabriel and experienced his first revelation from god.
