Many adolescents, In the Great Depression, received the full affects and suffered. Some were left hungry, impoverished, and hopeless, how are adolescents today compared? The 30’s were a time of great distress for many Americans. Events such as the stock market crash, an economy suffering from being inflated, overuse of credit, a farming crisis, and other events led America to the economic downfall known as the Great Depression. During the great depression, the unemployment was high, the wages were low, lines stretched around the city for food, families that lost their house had to live in makeshift homes in communities called hoovervilles, and children had to stop school to work for money. Teens effected by the Great Depression worked hard for low wages to try to put food on their family’s table. Today, teens are gluttonous and live a very care free life style with financial stability of their families. As you can see adolescents in the Great Depression differ much from today.

Adolescents in the Great Depression compare and contrast socially with adolescents today. During the great depression, teens effected by the Great Depression had no time to socialize with their friends or other kids. Most of the teens, effected by the great depression, quite school and couldn’t talk or play with their friends. Instead they were working low paying jobs or taking care of the house whiles their parents were at work to help with their family’s troubles. Those who were able to talk to friends talked about getting money for food, clothing, and paying bills rather than other topics. When they talked to adults, they mostly were asking for jobs, money, or food like when they sent letters to Eleanor Roosevelt for items they needed or mon...

The Great Depression was a tough time for every one especially the adolescents. The adolescents that endured the Great Depression compare to adolescents today in many ways. Socially, adolescents in the great depression and adolescents share and differ in many traits. Teens that were in the Great Depression have many cultural likeness and differences with adolescents today. Teens in the Great Depression and teens today compare and contrast in multiple means. Though there is an 80 year time difference, it is safe to conclude that adolescents no and in the Great Depression compare in a lot of ways.
