When you think of technology, you would think of how great it is to exist in a world full of technology, or how great technology is in all its wonders. You imagine what the next advancement of technology would be, or look like. You may probably not be able to imagine the next advancement of technology, as it is already great the way it is. Well, I’m sorry to say that technology is not all cupcakes, rainbows, and hugs. If you are a tech lover, please disregard this article. Read at your own will. Also, I would like to clarify that I am not anti-technology, but only simply showcasing that other side of technology. The side that is full of flaws that become ways to ruin human life, and the world. Today, I will talk about a new device called Google Glass.
The all-new Google Glass is one of a kind headgear that is underdevelopment is a computer optical device, in which it is a computer in front of your eyeballs as a pair of glasses. Its purpose is to bring the virtual world to reality, and try to merge the two different worlds. For example, you have a GPS in front of your eyes when maneuvering in the world. Another example would be to open the barrier that keeps family, and friends from seeing what you see on your side of the world; you are able to video chat, and allow them to see what you see without carrying a smartphone, tablet, of laptop around. This certainly sounds amazing, and reminds you of all those sci-fi movies where the characters where optical computers, and do amazing things with it. In the case of reality, Google Glass may actually pose a threat to the lives of humans. It opens a frontier to human rudeness, loss of interactions, and a more dangerous world.
Human rudeness, we have all been there. There people that ju...

...all of that said, the world is simply not ready for Google Glass. In order for Google Glass to make an appearance, we would need a lot of self-restraint, and self-driving cars. Now, I am not trying to say that Google Glass should stop being underdevelopment, nor am I trying to sound anti-technological. I definitely love the idea of Google Glass; I just don’t think that this is the best of time for Google Glass to go to the markets, and eventually the hands of many different people. If only people (including myself) had more self-restraint, and were better than this, maybe Google Glass could fit into our lives more. Maybe these dangers would never exist if our nature were never the way it is. If we had more self-restraint, I think that this world would be a much safer, and better place. Then, we may become better people to each other, to ourselves, and to the world.
Technology is one of the most important things in everyone’s life. Technology improves every day. in regards to today’s youth, they were born with all the new technological inventions as opposed to our parents. In “Quality Time, Redefined” by Alex Williams, published in the New York Times, the author talks about the positive and negative effects on technology. I enjoyed this reading because it related my personal day to day life. Even though some Americans acknowledge that technology is a part of their everyday life, they do not see the negative outcome of technology, they are blinded only by the positive aspects.
The topic of technology and our society has become a very controversial subject today. Many people believe that technology is an essential component of our modern world, helping us to improve communication from farther distances as well as giving us easy access to important information. On the other hand, there is the opinion that too much technology is affecting social interactions and our basic development. “Technology…is a queer thing, it brings you great gifts with one hand, and stabs you in the back with the other.” (Carrie Snow.) The CBC Documentary “Are We Digital Dummies” displayed the pros and cons when it comes to modern technology that we use in the western world everyday.
Technology is supposed to be seen as such an advancement and great accomplishment. What others may not always know is sometimes it isn’t all fun and games, it can be dangerous. As seen when we created the atomic bomb and guns, their only purpose is to destroy and cause pain to others. Although they are not always in use, they are a constant threat to our well being. We need to take into consideration the positives and the negatives of the technology we create today.
There is a company known as Corning, you may or may not have heard of them but be assured they are prevalent in many fields as manufacturers of appliances with a wide ranges of uses. They have recently released information in the form of videos, articles, and Public Service Announcements in regards to a new product known as Smart-glass. They have mentioned in all their releases how the new technology will become ubiquitous in the near future. Also in their videos they show intended possible uses for the technology from everyday life to the work environment. With such a promising technology there begs the question, what moved Corning inc. to invest in smart glass technology? I propose that what moved Corning inc. to invest in smart glass technology was a perceived opportunity to branch out even more and allow for extensive innovation and spontaneity. I will be addressing my reasoning behind my idea for Corning's thinking behind the new technology, Smart-glass.
In today’s society technology is everywhere, whether it be in a car, on a billboard, a laptop, or even on one’s phone. However, is all this technology a bad thing or is it truly a worldwide phenomenon. Even back during 1992, author Neil Postman wrote about how technology is both a blessing and a burden. Many people believe Postman’s views are arrogant or far-fetched, but there are also those who agree with him about the dangers of technology.
In today's world, technology is constantly changing from a new paperclip to an improvement in hospital machinery. Technology lets people improve the way they live so that they can preserve their own personal energy and focus on the really important factors in life. Some people focus their energy on making new innovations to improve transportation and the health of people that may save lives and some people focus on making new designs of packaging CDS. Technology is significant in everyone's life because it rapidly changes what is in the market. But, some new innovations of technology are ridiculous because they serve no purpose in helping mankind.
Augmented reality, is changing how we see the world. Augmented reality isn’t a new technology by any means. However, it is gaining popularity as the hardware and software that allows us to view our world through a new prospective becomes increasingly cheaper. As technology progresses, processers and circuits become smaller and smaller in size. Thus allowing for more capability from various forms of hardware like phones, computers, glasses, contacts, and even your car. All these devices have screens, or windows in which we look at our world, and with cleaver programs, software, and hardware, integrated into these modes which we view the world. The way which we see the world around us will forever change based on our own interests thanks to augmented reality. However, the question we have to ask ourselves is, is ability to overlay our world with whatever we please a good thing, or a bad thing?
When thinking of killing, drugs and nudity, I’m pretty sure not many people think of positive ideas. Electronics, such as television and computers, show these kinds of things regularly. Despite this explicit material, some people see the constantly improving technology as a wonderful addition to our lives. Yet as time passes, more and more people start to have doubts about what these developments in technology are leading to. Kids and teens should be playing and using their imaginations; instead they devote countless hours on various electronics ranging from tablets and computers to phones and TV’s. These inventions often show explicit and inappropriate material which corrupts children, and are slowly ruining society’s social skills.
Whether technology is with us or hurting us, we still have to use it and it affects our lives daily. We need it to get a hold of someone. We need it to do our jobs. Most importantly, we need it to keep our lives away from harm. There are many ways to manipulate technology, but technology has more good to it than bad. There are those who use it for good, like investigators so they can figure out the real story. Then there are those who use it for bad, just like those who commit cyber bullying along with other minor and major things. We need technology regardless if people argue they like or not. There is no way to stop technology and keeping people from making it better. With the developments in technology, we may be able to enjoy all the pricey luxuries and still enjoy life at the same time.
In conclusion, virtual reality has yet to fully mature, and only time will tell its true effects of society. It has potential to give us joy, but at what price? It is in our best interest to walk slowly through this path, so as not, to overlook possible unintended and irreversible consequences.
There are many tracking technologies that law enforcement are using in this day and age. Using newly developed technology may help law enforcement capture criminals much faster. Also, this enables officers to respond more quickly to a crime scene. Using some of these equipment can save a person’s life with a quick response.
...developed the Google glasses. “Google Glass is a wearable computer with an optical head-mounted display (OHMD). It was developed by Google with the mission of producing a mass-market ubiquitous computer. Google Glass displays information in a smartphone-like hands-free format (google.com). These glasses were developed for people who are constantly on the go. With a couple mishaps though, wearable computers still needs further development.
There is no doubt that the accomplishments made through technology are astonishing. Technology has made amazing impacts on everything from science in space to medical science to the devices we use every day that make our lives easier. People are living longer and better than ever before, but we can’t forget how to live without it. “Just because technology is there and makes something easier doesn’t mean we should rely on it so much that we can’t think for ourselves,” (Levinson).
Is technology controlling us or are we choosing to be controlled by it? This is the question we should ask ourselves when we feel controlled or connected to our technology. It is in our hands to control overuse or misuse of technology. Technology is everywhere we go: stores, schools, households and banks and that must mean it’s good for something. The purpose of technology in general, is to help us have more productive and with less hassles.
In the 21st century, we live in the era of technology-driven world. Humans never stopped the development of technology, because we always have a natural tendency to pursue a higher level of human being. Technology is the best evidence of human intelligence, which has shown that we are different from other animals. We have lived with technology since we were born. Although it has intervened heavily in our daily lives that we can’t no longer live without, nobody can deny the achievements it has brought to us.
