Global Warming and Cllimate Change

Part One Scientists have warned that the world’s climate has changed a lot, and has affected many living and non-living things Many places that were warmer are now getting colder, and many colder regions are getting much more colder or even warmer causing global warming. Some people do not believe that these are caused by human activities; rather it is political and erroneous intended to cause panic among humans. Unfortunately, society is contributing to the problem by adding heat-trapping gases to the atmosphere causing a change in the Earth’s climate. Modern society is leading the way in technology; but most importantly, in climate change. Remarkably, I am not surprised because transportation usage has enlarged over the years resulting in an increase of carbon dioxide. Muir (2013) pointed out “Carbon dioxide is one of the most important greenhouse gases (second only to water vapor), and is one of the gases of most concern” (Carbon Dioxide section, para. 1). Some factors that contribute to carbon dioxide emissions from cars and trucks are the amount of fuel used and number of miles traveled. A few years ago, it was not common for the average teenager or twenty-one year old to have a car. However, time has changed and I am seeing more and more cars on the road. In addition, I see more people traveling by car to visit family for holidays at least once a month. This is a serious issue and at this rate, I only expect it to get worse. Currently, motor vehicles are responsible for almost a quarter of annual US emissions of carbon dioxide. America is trying its hardest, in my opinion, to adapt to this crisis. Global warming is not going to be an overnight success, but there are ways to lend a helping hand and reduce the harm to this... ... middle of paper ... ...energy saving business, in spite of this; it has helped me dramatically in saving money. Not recommending everyone go out and buy a motorcycle, but it has helped me save on gas and maintenance costs. I usually spend $50 a week for my car on gas; driving the same distance with a bike over a week period – I only pay $13. Therefore, I am using less fuel in a week duration resulting in less carbon dioxide being released. I cannot control the water heating setting in my compound so I will just deal with it during the wintertime. Again, it does not affect my energy bill at all, but the increase of kWh usage is noticeable. Works Cited Carbon Footprint. (n.d.). Calculator. Carbon footprint calculator.
