United States is supposedly one of the free countries in the world and other nations look at it with awe and aspiration. America is a nation with multi – cultural background and people with different identities and personalities. However, if two men walking on the street gradually start kissing each other many people would look at them with disgust. Even being a most modern country, homosexuality is still looked down upon with much intolerance. Is there something wrong with what those men just did? For many it can be a disgusting act, but for some it might look understandable. The issue of gay rights is very complicated in America. It is an enigma to realize that being an educated and civilized community; people don’t understand the real meaning of human rights and freedom.
The biggest problem is that the issue is not only fought in terms of words, but also in physical ways. As per “(Thomas) “The 53-year-old gay man bashed by six brutes as he walked hand-in-hand with his boyfriend is now afraid to walk through Chelsea — his home of 20 years”. There are many such antis – gay incidents happening in America and it is a matter of serious public health concern. People are being beaten upon streets if they display homosexual behavior, which is surely regretful. Another factor, which instigates the problem, is the propagandas of churches that forbid gay relationships and is a sin according to Bible. Hence, the gays amongst a population are exploited and ignored by the society when it the issue of human rights.
Gays are not extra ordinary people but someone like us, and they cannot be blamed for their sexual orientation, as it is highly physiological and emotional issue. Nobody chooses to be a gay, but they end up being a gay. Gay is not ...
