The Supreme Court of the United States ruled that the Constitution guarantees a right to same-sex marriage. Gay couples worldwide have been fighting for their right to marry for decades, especially in more recent years where you find it more “common” for someone in the gay community to be publicly out. There are many contradicting beliefs regarding gay marriage, making it difficult for same sex couples to become legally recognized as a married couple, to receive benefits, and the same rights as a heterosexual married couple. Same sex marriage must be legalized nationwide, to allow our society to overcome new obstacles regarding marriage, rights and benefits, and important health decisions.
Many citizens argue that:
Marriage is not the creature of any State. Rather, it was established by God in Paradise for our first parents, Adam and Eve. As we read in the book of Genesis: “God created man in his image: in the Divine image he created him; male and female. He created them. God blessed them, saying ‘Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.” (“Ten Reasons Why”)
Many citizens attempt to argue a point using the the Separation of Church and State clause, which does not actually exist in the constitution but, does come up in Thomas Jefferson’s Wall of Separation Letter (Jefferson’s Wall).
Believing with you that religion is a matter which solely lies between man and his god, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that legitimate powers of government reach actions only, and not options, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise t...
