Gay Marriage Should Be Legal in All States

One of the most controversial topics that has been debated throughout the United States for decades has been Gay Marriage. Whether same-sex couples should be given the right to marry or even if same-sex couples should be given rights at all, this has been a contentious discussion which creates division and disunity throughout the country. The Supreme Court of the United States ruled that the Constitution guarantees a right to same-sex marriage. Gay marriage has been legalized in 17 states. But only 19 of 194 countries allow for gay marriage. Statistics show more than half the country supports Gay Marriage and the right for same-sex couples to be treated equal through the everyday endeavors every other couple go through. Gay Marriage should be legal in all states throughout the country and should be given the same benefits as a heterosexual marriage.

Without the option to marry, same-sex couples face constant adversity with their financial future, physical/mental health, and practical means. (Gay 3) Many proponents argue that not allowing gay marriage is classified as unconstitutional discrimination. The right to Marriage isn’t just another “thing”. Marriage, is considered, to be defined as the culmination of the love you have for your mate. But if a couple isn’t allowed the right to marriage then this could lead to the relationship becoming “stale” or “not complete”. Marriage offers 1,138 Federal benefits, including hundreds more depending on state laws. In times of danger and crisis, spouses of the victim are given hospital visitation rights as well as the ruling on how to treat their spouse. Employers offer spouses sick leave, bereavement leave, and access to the companies health insurance and pension. If the worst was to hap...

...its just what is statistically correct and there is no reason to base off of which makes Gay Marriage illegal.
