Electronics is one of the most lucrative job opportunities around today. Some of the highest paying jobs in America are in electronics. But how does video game design stack up? Game design is a complex career field because it is made up of several different aspects such as set-up, technical issues, and narrative. There are many steps involved while following the career.
Before someone can really start designing a game, they must plan and prepare. The job of a game designer is to think of all parts of the game. To do this, designers use the Game Design Document, of GDD. The GDD covers all parts of a game, even if it is not needed in every game. It starts simple with the theme, story, and backstory, but gets very detailed, down to levels, goals, and items and inventory. This document is also used in board game design, because it covers mechanics of the game and how it is played. Once the game is planned out a team must be assembled to make it. A typical team will be divided into three groups, Graphics, User Interface, and Programmers. The Graphics team will be working on the look of the game. This can really affect how the player feels while playing the game because a poorly made world will not make the player come back. The User Interface team works on the control the player gets. They design the game control and interactivity, such as what items can be moved and which can not. They also decide what must be done to accomplish certain activvites, such as a successful takedown. The final task is left for the programmer's. These are the people who “make” the game; they are in charge of bringing the game to life. Depending on the type of game the company is making more or less people and roles may be needed. For example, in a two-dime...

If you do not like what you are doing then you will not do it well. All parts of game design take time and dedication. To succeed in this career I plan on going to college and majoring in game design, specifically game programming.
