There are different kinds of partners in the world: Black, White, Asian, Straight, Gay, etc. However, not all of them are accepted by the society. Holding someone’s hand in public? It may be the sweetest, most innocent and natural of gesture of affection. However, when it comes to a couple with the same sex, things become completely different. People may think it is disgusting. Therefore, gay couples have to tolerate others’ disgust looks and nasty words, or sometimes even worse -- a punch. The topic of whether we should support homosexuality has become more and more controversial in recent years. Although it seems like an awkward topic to write with, I still believe people should change their opinions on homosexuals. They do nothing wrong and deserve to have the equal rights as us.
It was broadly believed that homosexuality was a kind of mental illness and could be cured if people respond well to treatment. However, nowadays homosexuality is no longer considered a form of mental illness by mainstream psychologists and psychiatrists. “Japan’s psychiatric body called it mental illness until 1995, and the World Health Organization until 1993. The American Psychiatric Association removed homosexuality from its list of disorder in 1973.” (The Associated Press 1) China also removed homosexuality from its list of mental illnesses in 2001 after five years of study. Although homosexuality is not a mental illness itself, sometimes gay men and women have mental disorders due to pressure from family and society.
In Russia, A homosexual is not allowed to do things that others are free to do. For example, the athletes that kissed in public after winning a medal were not lesbians, so it was acceptable with Russians, but if they wer...

... that it has a huge influence especially on youth attitudes. Homophobia is going to be more and more on life support by the young generation. With so much bad stuff happening around us, this at least is something to celebrate.
I hope we can still work on until the society start to hear our voice and people begin to change their minds. As president Obama said, “Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law, for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well.” Hopefully, the punch thrown to the gay couple was the first time, and will be the last time. After reading all of my words, if you still insist on against homosexuality. May I ask you a question: Why are people in our culture more comfortable with seeing two men holding guns than holding hands?
