Chipotle Mexican Grill has redefined the restaurant industry over the past twenty years. Before Chipotle, there were essentially no restaurants that offered high quality food and tailored orders at fast-food speeds. Chipotle successfully created this experience, which is now considered “fast casual” dining. Steve Ells, the founder of Chipotle, opened his first restaurant in 1993 in Denver, Colorado. Now there are more than 1,500 locations across the globe. Ells focuses on “sourcing the best possible ingredients, serving the tastiest food, and growing the most capable team”. He calls this “Food With Integrity”, which has become the mission statement for the company. Chipotle’s menu is simple yet customizable. The menu lists Mexican food such as burritos, tacos, and salads, each of which comes with a choice of five types of meat. Along with picking the type of meat, customers can choose to add other toppings to their order ranging from corn salsa to sour cream. The basic menu with numerous toppings to add on creates endless variations of things to order at Chipotle. Their menu is also comprised of mostly naturally raised, organic, and sustainably grown food products. Recently, Chipotle has begun expanding by creating new restaurant chains. In September 2011, Chipotle opened an Asian restaurant in Washington, D.C. called ShopHouse Southeast Asian Grill. The company has now opened six new locations, and they’re planning to continue to open more locations. Less than two years later, in May of 2013, Chipotle launched Pizzeria Locale in Denver, Colorado. Both restaurants follow the fast casual vibe of Chipotle. The company is driven by a strong set of values, even if some of those decisions increase its costs internally. This is especially the case with the sourcing of its ingredients and meats. Two locally owned famous restaurants in Sedalia, Missouri, El Espolon and El Tapatio, are both recognized as quality, authentic Mexican restaurants that serve Sedalia with outstanding service and great food. After paying each establishment a visit this past weekend, I have discovered some differences and similarities in the two. Although many of my relatives have chosen El Espolon as their favorite, I found El Tapatio to provide a more ethnic experience with their excellent food, sharp service, and clean venue.

Chipotle is my favorite place to eat. As I am sure it is for other people. Chipotle is a fast food Mexican grill. They are most known for how big they make your burritos. Now it is fast food but it isn’t actually fast, they’re like a restaurant but without the wait. They serve all naturally raised meat and organic beans. So there food is pretty healthy and worth eating. The employees are always nice and it just a great place to eat over all. Chipotle is a great choice for a quick fast food stop because it gives great service, atmosphere, food and value. My experience there is always a good one.

The Santa Fe Grill is a relatively new Mexican restaurant that was started by two former business students from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. The idea sparked after the two roommates who were both interested in pursuing entrepreneurial interests decided that a Mexican restaurant in their city would be highly successful. While taking an entrepreneur class at the University, the plan for the business began coming together. Their main focus was to create a restaurant that would feature the freshest ingredients, as well as a lively atmosphere, cutting edge advertising and marketing, plus exceptional service for customers.
