Napoleon Bonaparte said, “Of all our institutions, public education is the most important. Everything depends on it, the present and the future. It is essential that the morals and political ideas of the generation which is now growing up should no longer be dependent upon the news of the day or the circumstances of the moment. Above all, we must secure unity: we must be able to cast a whole generation in the same mould” ("Parents and Citizens Council”). Over the course of our history, many have striven for equality in all fields of life, be it government, domestic life or education. The responsibility now lies on our shoulders to carry forth this struggle. So when it comes to education, Pakistan should exercise a uniform curriculum at the elementary and secondary level. Although, some consider the idea of uniform education in a country to be futile and impossible; however, such a system will help development of an underdeveloped country, unity of the nation, will provide equal opportunities to citizens of all classes and will lead to intellectually united communities.
A uniform education system is obligatory for the unity of a nation. As a matter of fact, the Pakistani education system is a by-product of British colonialism and unfortunately this system persists even today. The remnants of the divide and rule policy still exist in disguise today in Pakistan. Now, if there are different education systems in the same society, the nation will automatically divide into chunks and unanimity will diminish. Today, the way the educational system works in the U.S. concerns a large number of people in this country. "Only 25% of adults have a great deal of confidence in the people running education, according to the General Social Survey, down from 49% in 1974" (Russel 4). A lot of discussions have been held to find the best ways to improve teaching methods. At the same time, people recognize that a very valuable solution to increase the level of education in the United States is to look at some problems that cause difficulties and hamper the enhancement of the quality of education. The first step is to define these problems. As in every country, the U.S. wants to develop its national standards in education and wants them to be high. This has always been a government function. Being democratic, the government is trying to fit the qualities of democracy into the way to set these standards. Of course, this is not an easy task since this country has a very diverse population. To please everybody has always been an almost impossible task. Despite this impossibility, national standards have already been set. "If a visitor from another nation was dropped into an American public school classroom without knowing the state or the region, he or she would be likely to see the same lesson taught in the same way to children of the same age" (Ravitch 9). Everything seems right except the fact that the abilities of children are different. Not everybody is able to study at a college; not everybody wants to continue being educated. It is obvious that every country wants to produce as many educated people as possible. But, at the same time, every country needs workers because, regardless of the fast development of technology, there is still a great necessity for human labor. To satisfy all the necessities of the country, the government should provide different kinds of education. This does not mean that we need to eliminate all of the standards; they could be set in each field of education. Although standards are set, there is still a very big difference in teaching methods in different schools. The education system has been a controversial issue among educators. Requirements of school do not let student choose what they want to study for their future. It’s a big issue to force student study specific curriculums, which don’t help them improve, and what they like to create something. Educators choose a general system for education to all students which based on general knowledge. Intelligent or genius students have to be in that system of education, which doesn’t let them improve their creativity. Educators attempt to change that system to make it better, but their changing was not that great to be an example for the world. Also, did that change qualify education system to compete other systems or not? In some examples and reasons have been made me agree with some of points from Gatto’s and Edmunson’s and disagree them.

In our society now education is in a state of distress. It has become increasingly difficult to find a way for the education system to work for a variety of students; therefore it has been geared for the masses. It is stunningly clear that very few people have stopped and thought that maybe education should not be for the masses but instead for the students individually.

In today’s society the major goal of education is “to increase economic growth and prepare students for jobs in the global economy” ( Spring, 2014, p. 10). However, the political goal is still educating future citizens and political leaders. Meanwhile, the social control and resolve social issues are still the social goals of the educational system. Nevertheless, one social issue has not been resolved “the equal opportunity.” This goal has become one of the subjects in disagreement and the path to reach that goal is not ready in place due of inconsistencies between the social, political and economic powers of the system. That is why the question still remains what formulas or standards do we need to reach to implement the goal of educational equality for all in the future?
For long periods of time, education has been important to the development the different scientific, moral and ethical fields of the humanity. In addition, it has been recognized by some governments as a human right, but in some places around the world; education is not accessible for everyone. Many people believe that having an educational system without any cost would mean a better educated society, whereas others argue that this would not be possible. To develop a better educated society, governments should establish a totally free education system for the following three reasons.
