Humans have come a long way since the beginning of time. Technology is rapidly evolving and becoming more efficient in the way we live our lives. What was just an idea or a thought on paper, becomes reality in just a matter of time. Alongside this, the way we interact and communicate with one another is also evolving faster than we could of ever imagined. Who would of thought that the form of communication would go from carrier pigeons which took months to deliver to rapid delivery of an email in less than a tenth of a second. But with all this, the real question to ask is, "what is the future of management?

Evolution of Management
To answer the question about the future of management it is quite important to look over its past. From the beginning of the industrial revolution, management skills throughout this particular period were virtually unnecessary. However, with the discoveries and advancements of technology in the workplace, businesses started to explode and grow due to the increase in productivity and efficiency from these new found technologies. The problem with this was that the only former managerial experience that was known during this time was from either the military or religion. The management style during this particular time period consisted of a very autocratic leadership, rigid chain of command, and a centralized decision making process. It was from this point that management has rapidly advanced to what it is today.

The economy right now seems quite hopeless to everyone. From homeowners to small business owners, everyone is feeling the negative impact of the slowing global economy. In response to this, companies are becoming more vigilant and strict than ever. Managers are cons...

This approach will also take into account the external influences that appear to be having more of a role in "how we get things done" that establishes organizational principals, practices and structure; they will not become obsolete or outdated or maybe they will cease to exist. However, on the opposite side of the spectrum it is quite naive to think that the present day organizational structure will become obsolete. A combination of liability and accountability will remain valuable for tasks, routines, functions, and processes in business operations. On the other hand, too much structure or structure in the wrong places is bound to go away, as the science of management improves to better enable the identification of areas of business where structure is detrimental.
