Similarly, Xavier and Elijah from Three Day Road go through a path of losing love and friends eventually turning to enemies. To begin, Xavier and Elijah war quickly noticed by other comrades because of their hunting skills. Xavier and Elijah grew up with a native background where Xavier doesn’t see killing as an ordinary thing to do. This is seen when Xavier is being shot at for the first time. He witnesses how close it was for him to be killed, responding, “The other side wants to kill me, and I’ve never even seen their faces” (Boyden, 33). Much like Paul, Xavier share many similarities to show guilt, shame and innocence. Xavier as well as Paul, thinking for all his comrades and there service for the war. Showing how his culture has taught and raised him to do so. War gives soldiers the main purpose to kill, while for Paul and Xavier killing a human is not morally wrong. In addition, Paul, like Xavier haves regret and shame for all the comrades and enemies that they have lost. This causes them to go into a state of anger and guilt which they cannot control. This is seen after Xavier cannot think straight after destroying a base along with enemies, Xavier proclaims, “I replay it over and over in my head so that I don’t sleep all night, pulling the pin on my mill bomb, throwing it and watching it arc until it disappears into the crater, the concussion and screams. I have killed someone now” (Boyden, 75). Images of horror replay in Xavier head after he kills a group of men. It is shown that Xavier is attached emotionally to his victims. While most soldiers are alone and cannot express their feelings, this leaves these thoughts as a burden which can lead to insanity. However, Xavier finds love during the war which gave him hope again...
In war, most actions are motivated by survival. In the graphic memoir “A Long Way Gone” written by Ishmael Beah, survival and trust cause people to do what they consider necessary. Throughout the book, the reality of survival and trust in war is constantly explored. In the duration of the war, Ishmael struggles to come into the presence of new people without being threatened and chooses to be alone to survive. This suggests that trust is a foreign idea that is replaced by the need for survival.

Personally Saturday nights are my favorite, and I followed the same routine every weekend. So why would this weekend be any different? My room felt cozy as I looked up time to time to see my twinkling Christmas lights I leave up all year. I loved how the sweet scent of vanilla filled up the plain air of my bedroom. Wearing my biggest sweatshirt that dangled at my fingertips, I sat on my bed leaning comfortably on my pillows. Every now and then, the sound of a notification would break the sound of silence. This is how I preferred my Saturday nights to be.

When the difficulties of life are unbearable, people often escape through various forms, such as an imaginary world where such problems do not exist. This is a form of escape and a way of ensuring that the difficulties at hand do not overpower their lives. This idea is explored through various characters in Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale. The district in which these characters are imprisoned, Gilead, is controlled by a radical Puritan government. There exists a regulation for every aspect of the characters’ lives: from religion to sexuality, from language to occupation, from meals to marriages. With such absolute laws, one would imagine that suicide is the only escape; however, numerous characters within the novel learn to escape in a manner which does not cause them harm. In Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale, government extremists cleverly employ various forms of control to manipulate the characters into feeling powerless and isolated; ultimately, this forces them to depend on temporary escapes to survive in Gilead.
I just received my ANZAC biscuits their quite nice thanks to you for adding extra sugar this time. The battle of Passchendale has been going for 3 months now and its coming round to time for me to leave. I am quite desperate for it to finish before I leave because I don’t want to leave my mates behind and them be called into help because its very brutal and its not going very good on either side. Good news the battle finished just before I was set to leave. I have two days till I am leaving for London. I’ll let you know when I get to London.

Survival is indeed a word that can change a human’s perspective on what they need to do to remain alive. In order to survive, people have been known to go to great lengths and to do things they would not ordinarily do. I have noticed this throughout my life by watching movies, and reading books. Most of the time, it is the main character who comes face to face with death, and does anything to keep themselves alive. I have set up a few great examples that show’s people in their survival situations, and what they will do to get out alive.
After two plane rides and a long four hour bus trip all fifty of us finally arrived in Farmington, New Mexico. It was my first time being away from parents for more than a couple days and my first mission trip. I was extremely nervous. I thought the trip was gonna be a miserable ten days. It was the summer going into my senior year and before I left I was having a blast hanging out with my friends, going swimming, riding bikes, and relaxing every single day. The last thing I wanted to do was go on a church mission trip, but my parents insisted that I go. My parents said, it would be a, "great experience" and "life changing." They were right! I did not believe them until I got to the reservations. Met all the amazing Navajo Indians and learned

My education is progressing nicely, as I anticipate I should be completed with my doctorate by June 2017. I have officially applied for the admin. credential program and should be done by June 2017 as well. I ended up not accepting the behavior specialist position at Desert Sands Unified. It was a difficult decision due to the fact I really liked all the team members however, I need to be a bit closer to home right now. I am hopeful a perfect position will open up in the future.

Asia was awesome! Everything, from the food I ate to the people I met, gave me a new perspective on life. I still cannot get over the fact that I have traveled to the other side of the world. This school program gave me many memorable experiences, allowed me to learn a lot about the culture of Asia, and introduced me to friends that I'll treasure for a life time. I knew that there was a reason I got to go, and while I was there I tried to make the most of such an opportunity.
My friends, brother and I go camping in Summerville, a state park in Texas yearly. Many people go camping but my friends and I have the best camping trips that you can ever have. Our camping experience consist of chasing animals during the dark nights, exploring places people have never been to before, finding our own dinner and being the pranksters that we can sometimes be, while also being fire experts. Our camping experience is about bonding together as a group of friends and having a fun time through new adventures.
