Have you ever played soccer? I bet you did when you were little or possibly still do. Over 40% of Americans played it when they were little and a lot still play today. If you played it when you were little and want to learn more, than you are in the right place! Soccer started way back before 1365 we know that because in 1365 King Edward the third banned it because of the violence and indulgence. It is one of the most popular sports in America and in Europe. Some of the rules that they had back in the old days like in 1365 included punching, kicking, tripping, and sometimes biting. The history of modern day soccer that we play today was made in 1863. Modern day soccer rules include: not using hands unless you’re the goalie, no shoving, kicking, or biting and no more than a certain number of people on the field at a time. There are a lot more rules but if I listed all of them then well it would take up the rest of the essay. There are 5 positions: 1.Goalie, 2.Defender’s, 3.midfielder, 4.Forward, 5 Striker. Those are all the positions. A goalie is a person that stays back in the goal she can use her hands but only if she is in the goal box. A Defender is the person who stays back towards the goal and tries to take the ball away and kick it up to either the midfielder or the forwards before the ball gets to the goalie. Next is the midfielder their job is to run up and try to score and if the ball gets taken away their job is to run back and help play defense. The forward is a person who tries to score but if the ball gets taken away they do not run back to help play defense because if their team gets the ball back they won’t have anyone to pass up to. Next is the striker my team doesn’t have a striker but it’s pretty much just... ... middle of paper ... ...erican team’s names are U.S Men’s Soccer Team & the U.S Women’s Soccer Team. Every team needs a different name or else it’s really confusing you would just call the other team that other team like if we all had the same uniform color it would be very confusing because well you couldn’t tell which team would be which. Each team needs different colors so the referee can tell which team is which so lets say that the other team kicks the ball out the referee will say blue ball or yellow which ever color we are wearing that day thats why we need colors.
