Suicide bombing has been linked with Islamic religion over the years and is considered the act of terrorism in the world. The acts of violence are unfortunate. Whether they are done by Muslims or not is controversial. The link of the vice with religion has been a major talking point over the years because of the continual attacks by Islamic extremists. Islam is a religion, and Muslims represent a following of that religion. The act of following Islam by Muslims could be sometimes imperfect, but that does not mean that Islam itself is to be blamed for that. The noble Quran is the most important book of the Islam faith. It is considered as the very word of God. The Quran contains dozens of passages that preach peace and tolerance, so all the violent attacks happen all over the world are not always related to Islam.
While the Quran acknowledges the need to protect and defend the religion, it does not specify which approach should be used (Asad 25). However, the use of force also termed, as Jihad is common reference used by the extremists. In spite of challenge, it is evident that the religion also preaches peace within and with the neighbors. Quran only gives Muslims a general advice, but not specific enough. Therefore, it can be interpreted that Jihad should only be used when peaceful coexistence is threatened. This argument does not hold water for Islamic extremists because their fanaticism is for an Islamic country and rebellion against countries thought to support secularism.

In conclusion, suicide bombing cannot be related to Islam. Islam does not preach violence for oppression. However, if Muslims commit it then they will commit it because of their own reasons and welling’s, and not because they are following Islam. The translation of Quran into different languages could also result in different interpretations leading to a probable violent understanding of the religion. Hence it is not the religion Islam itself, but the interpretation and manipulation of it, that lead to violent attacks all over the world.
Juergensmeyer mentions that these suicide bombers are not thought of as such by the extreme Islamic groups, but rather as “self-chosen martyrs," a term brought up by Dr. Rantisi, which defines these people as soldiers in a great war who honorably gave up their lives for the sake of their community and religion. What is religion? Each person’s definition of religion is different. Each person’s faith is different. This is a question that has been asked for centuries, and regardless of the answer given there is no right or wrong answer. Religion can be defined as a group of people who have shared beliefs who feel their life has purpose or meaning. This feeling or belief that their life has meaning can come from outside of themselves, as well as within. Taking this one step further, these shared beliefs put into action in the form of worship, can be easily identified because they happen regularly. All three of these “religions” share “features.” Huston Smith, author of World’s Religions, says “six features of religion appear so regularly as to suggest that their seeds are in the human makeup.” These six features discussed in World’s Religions are as follows: authority, ritual, explanation, tradition, grace, and mystery (World’s, Page 67). First is authority, Smith argues religion is so complex that people will need assistance or guidance from those held in a higher light, or of a higher authority. Next is ritual, which can be happy (a wedding) or sad (a funeral), rituals are shared between people of the same religion in many forms as a sign of common beliefs. This conflict has become more of a problem then just suicides. Suicide bombers are normally people who don’t think they have anything to live for, so they decide to kill their selves in order to kill their enemies. Eventually all people must become Muslims before they can be an actual suicide bomber. Some children don’t have homes and are forced to sleep on the cold school floors. After 9/11 has induced negative attitudes towards Muslim peoples who tend to be strongly associated with any act of terrorism. The media has played a colossal role in developing such negative association wherein it constantly portrays Muslim people in combination with violent terrorist acts. Similar to Judaism and Christianity, Islam believes it is the one true religion of god. However, the prophet for this religion is not Jesus, similar to Judaism.
