Cellular phones can contribute a lot to our modern lives. It has made things very convenient by letting people communicate with others around the world almost instantaneously. One of the most used functions on the cell phone is not the phone, but the SMS text messaging. Why wouldn’t anyone want the ability to communicate instantaneously? With the use of this technology comes a different method of accountability. This is taking responsibility for that which falls under your domain. This is important when communicating with a supervisor. When an SMS message is received, it is professional courtesy to respond as soon as possible. That notwithstanding, SMS messaging is an unreliable technology with an average 1%-5% error or deliverability rate. …show more content…
Militaries have been designed as a massive machine. This means that every single person within that machine absolutely must be accountable for his or her actions or the entire thing may break down. None of it would be possible without good communication and …show more content…
There is a well-defined and rigid hierarchical structure within the military. This is referred to often as the chain of command. The best way to visualize this is to picture a chain—you can only get up or down by using the next link. You should always exercise professional courtesy by informing the next link in the chain unless absolutely necessary due to continues harassment or is you feel your career is in jeopardy. This chain of command will not work if you could not rely on each person in the structure to be entirely accountable for everything. When an order is given or a tasking comes down, the person handing them down doesn’t question whether or not they will be able to carry them out; it’s simply assumed. When a person does not do this and a negative consequence occurs, they can potentially be flagged and adverse action taken. Again, this is only in cases where a lawful order is given. If the infraction is serious enough, someone can be separated under various paragraphs, depending on how much damage has been done. In the cases of reprisal, the transgressor may faces charges including but not limited article, 93 cruelty and maltreatment of a subordinate, article 92 failure to obey a lawful order, or article 117 provoking speeches or

Times have changed. Things are done differently these days, including in romantic relationships. Instead of getting a love letter, boyfriends or girlfriends get love texts. Texting can be beneficial for making small plans, but it tends to decrease the intimacy for the couple. It can create issues that may or may not be resolved, but would have been less likely to be created had it not been for texting. Texting can lead to silly misunderstandings, make the partners feel like they always need to be in contact with each other, create a tendency to resolve problems and express feelings without being face-to-face, and make them wonder if they really have their partner’s attention or not.
Although the idea that texting and online communication is weakening our ties to actually being able to have face to face communication is common, it is not so true and I agree with Stobierski in that this social form has both positives and negatives, but the repercussions of texting and online communication ultimately outweigh the bright side.
On the other hand, texting can give people the same sense of reality as a face-to-face conversation. Texting allows people to communicate quickly and ensure their place in reality. The same meaningful message can still be delivered whe...
Even though texting has its flaws, it also has its success, it might be a problem that texting is so advanced that now we have emojis to the point that we are able to make a whole sentence out of them, but texting also helps us get a message to each other faster. Again we text how we speak, when we’re in front of our friends we speak in our comfortable ways, while we’re texting we speak in our comfortable ways, instead of saying: I think that the exact length of the pole will be equivalent to the exact length of the building, and the amount of pressure that the pole can hold will be able to withstand the weight of the building, we probably will just say something along the lines of: I think the pole is big enough to hold up the building and pole will be able to hold up the building. Those two sentences are saying the same thing, but one sentence is one that we would use in front of our boss, and one is one that we would use on the phone or in front of our friends, there is no problem with both of these sentences, but only one would be accepted in a professional matter. So it's not that texting is a horrible thing, but that texting is used more for loose language and not for educating language as much In other words, our way of speech in texting is not really a professional way of
Texting is probably the most popular form of communications now a days, however before texting became possible people were stuck with simple phones that couldn't move around very far. Texting is a great way to get to know a person, and you don't have to worry
After hours of countless research and reading over a dozen of articles about texting, surprisingly, not even a quarter of the articles showed any signs of texting have a negative effect on teenagers. In the article “No Lol Matter: Tween Texting May Lead to Poor Grammar Skills” by Shyam Sundar and Drew Singel, both writers discuss the drawbacks of overextended texting in “texting language.” The claim they make is that the more texts you send out and receive per day, the lower your score will be on the grammar test that they conducted on students. They also believe that if teenagers receive too much text messages from relatives and friends, that will ruin their grammar because apparently teenagers like to imitate their friends. Even though tests were conducted, the source is not reliable because there is no proof that every teenager will attempt to imitate their friends and relatives. Also, there is no proof that the people who texted more and got lower scores than the others were just not as smart as the other students who did not text as much as them. Another possible reason that the people who texted less got higher scores would be because if they are not so focused on texting, they would be spending their time concentrating on othe...
Texting reduces the need for in-depth conversations. Have you texted people as a form of avoidance? A few abbreviated words keeps us meaningful dialogue and face-to-face communication. It also overtakes the importance of body language in everyday conversations. Imagine going into an elevator and on the way in there is a quirky individual that you’ll rather not speak to, but you’ll send back a polite smile as they stare you down. Soon after you’ll pull out your brand new iPhone 6s that your parents got you for
I have noticed that nowadays people are relying on texting more than calling people and engaging in a conversation on the phone. Many people argue that texting is a much easier way to communicate. Although some people may argue that texting is better, many people believe calling is a much more efficient way of long distance communication. I favor calling over texting because you can hear their voice, you won’t lose your communication skills, and I believe it can be quicker than texting in most circumstances.
In recent years texting has become one of the most popular ways to stay in touch with the people around you. Texting is something that occurs every day and almost everyone does it. One of the
Social media sites are also an alternative to texting since they serve the same functions. Twitter, for example, adopted the short character format, which helped the text message phenomenon (Erickson). Social media, chat, email, Skype, Oovoo and other forms of online communication have widen options for texting. Other way for texting is iMessage on an iPhone, which uses data. Social media makes it a lot easier for users to communicate. We can see if contacts are available or not to talk with rather than waiting (Rebtel). It is hard to imagine a world without modern advances in communication technology. SMS is still the most widely used data application in the world even with other forms of communication around, as seen from the graph on the left. It has become more than just sending texts with friends, it also enables us to receive updates and alerts, keep track of our finances, send emails, and much more. Traditional SMS makes it possible to talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime.
In conclusion, texting and emailing are similar and different in a variety of ways. If one wants to send a letter to an old friend, email would be the best option. However, if one want to reach a friend immediately, texting would be the swiftest option. No matter what people use, they are both equally capable of delivering messages to and fro. Different people have different methods of sending a message. However, overall, these efficient ways of sending messages are used everyday.
Even though modern technology provided an abundant of convenience in our lives, it carries out more problems such as being too dependent on technology and effecting education to an extent. Instead of calling people for homework help or just socializing with our friends and family, we just text that person. More so, people do not write letters to each other; we can simply send an email. Not only does it make us indolent, we also become anti- social. We do not get the interconnection with others as we used to get when we called each other out to talk. We spend the majority of our time on Facebook messaging, text messaging and other socializing systems allowing us to chat. Texting seems to be drifting further away from other forms of communication because of its impersonal, impermanent nature (Understanding the Technology Behind Cell Phone Text Messaging).
