Recommended: Review the various types of energy sources essay

“The most important environmental issue is one that is rarely mentioned, and that is the lack of a conservation ethic in our culture” – Gaylord Nelson. Energy has become an extremely hot topic over the last couple of years, with arguments for our energy worries ranging from environmental to political to economical or financial problems. The variety of energy sources available for Ontarians has been a positive outcome for citizens, but the consequences of using some of these sources has not been. The situation, although severely thought through, has been the root of inflamed quarrel among people. With approximately thirteen million citizens living in Ontario, the future of the environment and sustainable energy source is questioned. While there are many different types of energy sources that Ontarians can get their power from, the Premiere of Ontario should focus on renewable energy for the sake of future generations, the economy and the province. The majority if not all Ontarians utilized energy sources originate from; nuclear power plants, hydro power plants, and renewable energy sources. Nuclear energy, which has evolved a great deal since the 1940s during World War II where uranium was used to make bombs, is seen as a dangerous energy origin. The creation of this energy arrives from the splitting of unstable uranium nucleus. This power source of generating energy currently meets half of Ontarians energy needs, receives thorough waste management and emits different degrees of radiation. The majority of Ontario’s energy demands are met by nuclear power plants. The low operating costs for Ontario makes it convenient and extremely useful for the province as a whole. It is clear that the answer to our energy troubles is to transition from traditional energy sources to renewable energy sources, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions, ending our dependence on foreign oil, and eliminating our world transfer of wealth to oil producing nations. According to David Suzuki, a Canadian scientist and environmentalist, “we must change for the sake of our health, our children and grandchildren and even our economic well-being, we must make protecting the planet our top priority”. By using these sources for energy, Canadian carbon footprints will be reduced. This will result into a improve air quality for the present and future generations. The transition will create more jobs and help Ontario families’ provincial wide financially. Renewable energy is the answer for a prosperous life and future.
