Why is the hunger games book series banned in some school districts? So the books, even be banned. The hunger games series is about two teen Defeat the strong capital rules, by falling in love with each other and deciding not to kill each other forcing the game makers of the capitol to change the rules of the game and let cattness and Petta live, (main charters). But Now in catching fire the story changes a bit. The teens need to battle again. With the capitol ,people and love. There are a lot of the graphic parts in the story, but I believe that any 9th grader should be able to handle it. One reason I believe the hunger games series access should not be limited to 9th grades is the idea that 9th grader should be more mature. People challenge this book because they think that the hunger games is to too violent kids or that it could cause nightmares. And I agree with that if we are talking about little kids. But we are not talking about little kids we are speaking about 9th graders who are in high school. That idea that a high school student who is not allowed to read this book because the school district says it too violent is preposterous. The truth is teen are exposed to more things worst then the book. Due to video game movies and the web. In fact younger kids can say they have played a violent game that has nudity, death or gun violence. In parts of the hunger games book Suzan Collins uses a part of a story to give a better idea of what cattiness feels. Like in chapter 18 of the hunger game “Rue's death has forced me to confront my own fury against the cruelty, the injustice they inflict upon us--------, I feel my impotence. In conclusion I believe that anyone who thinks that they would enjoy this book should have access to this book. Because of the many reason I stated above. 9th graders should have a choice weather or not they should read it. And most 9th graders should be able to handle it. And the truth that most 9th grader have seen and read worst and lastly 9th grader are more mature than. I understand why some say that this book usage is for adults and not kids or teen but I personally believe that reading this story the story was not that bad and really shouldn’t even be banned for middle school students. When Rainsford falls off of the boat, he has to try his best to stay afloat until he can find something to latch on to. He swims vigorously until he reaches Ship-Trap Island. "Jagged crags appeared to jut up into the opaqueness... dense jungle came down to the very edge of the cliffs." It is midday and he is just searching for a place to rest when he runs into Ivan, the astonishingly large guard of the island. Zaroff, the owner of the island, joins in on their conversation about hunting. The conversation is interesting to say the least. Zaroff says, "You'll find this game worth playing…your brain against mine. Your woodcraft against mine. Your strength and stamina against mine. Outdoor chess! And the stake is not without value, eh?" Zaroff is trying to point out that he finds interest in hunting humans, and he wants to know if Rainsford will rise to the challenge. Rainsford is left with a choice to make; will he fight Zaroff, or will he decline and get killed by Ivan. The choice in this situation is pretty self- evident.
Why should this novel be banned from use in schools? Students should be able to hear these words and talk about them and not use them offensively. Racial content, tension, and slurs are used in people’s everyday lives. If people can use these words outside of school why would they not be allowed to be talked about in school? It is important for everyone to be informed about these racial tensions. This book also shows the reader what is was like to be growing up in this time period. Although this book uses the n-word, it uses it in a historical way. Using these racist words explains the way of thinking of the south in the 1930s. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee is appropriate to use and read in school.
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn has been banned from many high school classrooms over the years. This novel by author Mark Twain is one of the most controversial books in the United States. Huck Finn should not be removed from high school curriculums for mature students. Twain’s writing not only exposes the vices of 19th century Southern society and teaches about topics that spark debates, it also opens students’ eyes to social issues that are still problems in today’s society. Mature students should be exposed to The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in the classroom setting.
The Hunger Games, a film based off of a novel written by Susan Collins, was released in March of 2012. The film, and the book it was based on, chronicles the struggles of a girl named Katniss Everdeen, a girl who lives in a poverty stricken province or “District”, until untimely circumstances forces her to play in the Hunger Games, a gladiatorial like contest where children between the ages of 12 and 18 are forced to fight to the death. A contest that was set up by an oppressive and authoritarian government, and has thus far been sustained via the forced obedience of the rebellious Districts, the brainwashing and conditioning of Districts 1 and 2, and the conditioning of the residents of its Capitol. The movie has a variety of messages, most especially in regards to social control and social conditioning. With these ideas in mind, a case could very well be made that The Hunger Games, throughout its two hour long run time, shows a very realistic look at a socially conditioned society and what humanity can become with the right amount of conditioning and control by an authoritarian force.
Again I think the book should not be banned because it has good reasons on why it should be banned but the parents and the other challengers haven’t provide efficient enough evidence in my opinion. The evidence I provided could easily overturn the ruling of the book being banned because yes there’s violence in the book but it’s the way the parents see the violence and the children might see it a different way. This book is teaching a lesson to the reader to never give up and show bravery like Katniss in the book. The violence exposed in this book should mature your children and as a parent to know that there’s more violence in the real world then in this fictional violence.

The government and burning books is what is looked up to in Fahrenheit 451. The job as a firefighter is to destroy all the books. The books are not good for the community and not many people want them there. The Gossip Girl series is a series that should be banned in certain locations such as a middle school library. The content in the books should not be made available to people under the age of fifteen. Some of the inappropriate content includes: sex, drugs, offensive language, inappropriate attitudes, and scandals.
