I decided to become a cop when I was in middle school after I had met my dad and gotten to know him. I started to think about what I could do that would in a way make up for all the bad things he had done. My dad abused the law and had a bad drug problem. He would always say, "I am going to change for the better I love you." But he was never clean long enough to see what was going on around him, he was hurting everyone with the life he was living. I learned not to trust people in his situation cause no matter how much they say they have changed it always finds a way back in to their life's if they aren't completely wanting to change. If there is no motivation for things to change in their life they won't and making the change is up to them. So, no matter how much my dad said he was going to change he always went back to his ways. He would be fine if he would have stayed away from his family for a while. My dad's side of the family is mostly criminals and people who break the law even if they haven't gotten caught. My dad got his habits from his cousin Tommy. I think he would have been better off never meeting him and maybe he would have stayed out of trouble with the law but it's too late now. …show more content…
