Having an impact on an individual’s life is their worldview. A worldview influences your thoughts and . This is their point of view and how they interpret and relate to the world. It shapes their interactions and behaviors to those around them (Waddell, 2014). One key element to an individual’s worldview relates to ethics. He has two options in his situation, each with a possible outcome that is not ideal. Paul can take the performance enhancing drugs to ensure his starting position on the team or he can continue training without the drugs and risk losing his position. If Paul takes the drugs he may guarantee himself a starting position, but taking the drugs is cheating, they can be dangerous, and how long until the league catches up to the use and begins testing for them (Petersen & Kristensen, 2009)? The individual in the ethical dilemma weighs out their options in the situation and the potential outcomes of their decision. Some worldviews like the Christian worldview believe that that decision may have a much larger impact in the future outside of the given situation. In the Buddhist worldview they believe in karma. It is the well-known what goes around comes around. In the Christian worldview living ethically is following Gods teaching, not committing sin, and rewards an eternal afterlife.
Conclusion
Paul was faced with a difficult ethical dilemma. If Paul embraced the Christian worldview he would have guidance through his decision. He could turn to God and pray seeking out the answer through the Bible. God would be there with him hand in hand as he made this decision. Following his teachings and ultimately being rewarded for the moral choice.
