With the development of technology, education can be delivered in many platforms. Many would say that finding that work/school balance would be difficult if one was attending school in a classroom. This essay will be comparing the differences between learning in a traditional classroom versus learning in an online setting.
There are several aspects of online learning that makes it different from learning in a traditional classroom. Most students that attend school in a classroom are used to sitting in a desk, listening to a lecture, having open discussions, and taking tests(Bethel University, 2014). Being on time and meeting deadlines is a quality that has helped me grow within the company. This is a quality that I will apply to my college work. I have learned that planning each day out helps to drive the effectiveness on meeting deadlines and being successful at work. Just as stated in the Unit 1 attend section, under work ahead, it gives me the ability to stay on top my work, helps me have my work finished if a sudden situation arises, and gives me time to review my work multiple times to ensure that it exceeds standards before submitting (Bethel University, 2014) As a sales coach in the store, I spend a majority of time at work observing employees, looking for development opportunities, coaching the employee on that opportunity, and finally typing up our conversation. Therefore, I have developed research skills that I will apply to this course. In the past it has been difficult for me to reach out to people for assistance. In the Unit 1 read section it suggest finding someone that I can establish a relationship with for help (Bethel University, 2014) I have always been someone that strives to be successful without the help of others, but I know that in order to achieve success at Bethel University there may be instances that I need the help of another. As a result, I
The efficiency of online learning versus face-to-face instruction is a growing controversial topic. In his article, “Can You Be Educated from a distance?”, James Barszcz weighs the benefits and disadvantages of online education. In his essay, he discusses the fundamentals and overall quality of distance education, as well as the rationale behind the growing trend. He argues that observation of teachers and social aspects of traditional learning are important for true education, rather than simply obtaining information. Barszcz uses thorough juxtaposition between distance and traditional classrooms unbiasedly so the differences between the two types of education are easily seen, while constant use of studies and surveys add justification to his argument.
Juggling work and school, finding time for having fun, and liking what someone does, these are some of the problems that plague young adults today. If a person that fits those requirements is looking for a little extra income, this writer knows just what the doctor ordered. Working as a waiter is a very fulfilling job, especially for a young adult student. With flexible hours and uniforms, decent pay, and working in a fun atmospherewith many different types of people, being a waiter is an excellent job for a student.
Then, he discusses the unfavorable characteristics of internet education. Some of the aspects he talked about included social problems, time management complications, and the diminishment of the inborn curiosity of students. Online learning possesses many positive advantages. Contrary to Spring’s claim about social complications and skills in which he states they, “are also detrimental,” certain online schools offer students the possibility to get involved with other students and the society. Internet schools can encourage students by permitting the formation of a mission team or simply by instructing them to have effective communication skills with others their age.
I remember it clearly, me a 14-year-old kid full of nerves and trepidation it was 6 am on a cold June morning when I was dropped off in front of Allied Fish Cannery. I worked the next 3 months using a snow shovel to scoop fish guts of the cold concrete floor and place them in a 5-gallon bucket. It was hard, physically demanding work that I did for all 3 months of my summer break. My single mother had no money for the school clothes I wanted and by getting a job I earned the money. This first official job gave me a sense of pride and was my first exposure to the world of hard work, therefore I believe that all adolescents can benefit from working a job as it lays the groundwork for a lifelong work ethic, eases the burden of parental contribution and provides a glimpse of the adult working world.
School has been in our lives for the longest time and it has always been a positive experience. It sets students on a path to achieve their education goal and stepping stones to a career! Now with all the advancements in life, students have the opportunity to do online classes. This is useful if the pupil is not able to attend school or their school does not offer some classes that they would like to take. Experiencing both of these ways of schooling, I have an understanding of the differences between the two. The major differences between online school and traditional school are the flexibility opportunities, the communication with the teachers, and the time management/discipline from the learner.
The majority of kids absolutely hate going to school. They hate having to wake up early and dread doing work for eight hours a day. Students who attend a regular school are constantly reminded by other students and teachers to complete their work when they show up at school every day. But if that student is very independent and self motivated, it would be great for them to be able to complete their school work at home by themselves. Online schooling offers many more benefits and options than a regular school.
One of the things that attracts many students to online school is the fact that they can do their schooling at their own pace whether it be the fact that they work odd hours and maybe doing their class at 8 o’clock is more doable or that they work faster than most people and online school gives them ability to move as fast or as slow as they learn instead of staying at the pace that their class is set at. Learning at a personal pace is actually more beneficial to students, according to the Department of Education’s study that was done in 2009, students in online courses scored slightly higher on exams, and on average, they fared better than traditional students. Another great thing about online schooling is that it is more comfortable than traditional schooling. For traditional schooling the student needs to wake up and physically go to a school whereas a student in online school can log onto their lap top and do school in their pajamas and wouldn’t matter because they are by themselves. So comfort wise online schooling definitely wins, hands

There are many doubts about online education, but this a new world without borders it is a new opportunity for people from all over the world to get an education.
The opportunity to obtain a degree through an online setting has provided some liberation to students who then take advantage of that opportunity. The problem, however, lies in employment upon successful completion of an online program. Having an online degree possibly means some bumps down the road of employment, being that the degree could perhaps be ranked lower, as opposed to the traditional degree. Studies show that employers are more prone to hire someone with a traditional degree versus an online degree. In the Chronicle of Online Education, Carnevale states that, “The reviews of individuals who assess qualified candidates for particular positions demonstrate an inclination against online degrees, although these programs are becoming more readily accessible through universities on the web (Carnevale 2007)”. It is clear that even with the qualifications that one may possess from online education, employers still remain inclined. Some employers may feel that the degrees can’t correlate with one another and that one receives a better understanding of the coursework at traditional colleges. In the article, Employer’s Perspective of Online Education, Linardopoulos finds apprehensions regarding employer’s views of online learning. He says, “Online learning does not provide adequate
“In 2016 it is estimated that 5.8 million people are enrolled in at least one online academic course. That’s more than one in four students (Consortium).” There are several advantages to taking online courses, yet there are many disadvantages as well. What governs the individual’s direction remains founded on the circumstances surrounding the person along with weighing the advantages and disadvantages of said styles of education, such as costs, convenience, and flexibility so you can take the time to work and to go to school, and student/teacher relationships. Consequently, it is up to the individual to choose whether they want to invest in online learning or the traditional classroom learning when it comes to furthering their education.

Today, some students are finding it much easier to maintain a job, family and start a college career, all by taking online classes. Although some students still prefer to stick with the traditional classroom classes, they still have the option to take online classes. Both online and the traditional classes will provide the educational requirements needed to obtain a college degree and opportunities in the work field. Although the online classes offer just as much as the traditional classes, they are completely different when it comes to teaching methods, course material and time.

Technology has had a large impact on the field of education. The proliferation of multimedia resources and limitless amounts of information available through the Internet has fundamentally affected the learning process. Students no longer search through cards and stacks for magazine articles; almost everything is at the click of a finger. Multimedia resources are increasingly utilized in the classroom to help instruct students. Some professors are making conscious efforts to use new technology, so as to introduce and familiarize their students with it. The significance of technology in education is now being elevated to a new plateau. Education through the Internet, the great equalizer, may make it more widely distributed through the phenomenon of online courses.
