"When I started teaching elementary school after college, the public school district didn't hide the fact that it had two pay scales: one for men and one for women. Women have made incredible strides since then. But 40 years later, we're still debating equal pay for equal work." —Elizabeth Warren Wage gaps exist all over the world . They only get worse and worse as time goes on. For example, women from Italy do not even make half of what a man makes. They only make 48 cents to every man’s dollar, which happens to be exceedingly worse than a woman in the United States. Israel also has a high wage gap for women, which is 1% lower than women from Italy. Burundi on the other hand is one of the poorest countries but it still leads in equality wages. …show more content…

We're still talking about reproductive rights for women, and we're still talking about getting equal pay for women. And that's just frustrating.-Corin Tucker Many women are discouraged from certain career paths because of the industry culture. Even if the women go against the grain the many employers foster a hostile environment and makes it more for one gender. Many of these careers are in the science, mathematics, technology and engineering and they have more of a male work space.(Woman's Work) Many of the woman quit their jobs because it is such a hostile work environment. The woman are actually making the right choice because they may not see a pay raise. If they were to join into a male dominated field then the woman would have lower wages than if she was in a female dominated workplace.(Woman's Working) In many cases, if a woman wanted more money she should ask for more. Just like what any other employee does, they ask for a raise. Many women think that asking for a raise will make them lose their image. They think it makes them look pushy and ungrateful.(6 Excuses) There is nothing wrong for asking for more money because almost everyone does it and it shows that you think that you deserve more in the job. I act for love. I give it my all. I would probably still do it even if I wasn't paid at all. But in terms of equal pay, I need to be paid the same as the guy who has equal billing with me. Otherwise, I won't do it. Because if you accept less, you're just letting everyone else down and continuing the cycle. -Cara
