The Written Necessity

Writing is the essence of the world around us. Everyday we encounter different styles of writing, whether it be through a newspaper, magazine, email, or even a text message. Each of these writings affect us on how we interrupt the opinions of others and the ability to engage our own thoughts. Therefore, we can think of writing as building a bridge. We build bridges filled with words that connects us to the outside world. However, each year, millions of students enroll in college with the lack in necessary writing skills. As part of their academic curriculum, most college students are required to take two semesters of college composition, such as with four year degrees. However, even before students are accepted into college, writing is a necessary skill as part of their applications. Once enrolled in their choice of college, students are then required to write essays assigned by their professors. Despite the need in knowledge on how to write, to be successful in college and in a career, good writing is a required skill. Therefore, all colleges should make two semesters of composition a mandatory requirement for college students.

Writing plays an important role in education. From a young age teachers assign papers, books, and other forms of written pieces for homework. This form of homework is a way for students to learn about a topic and also begin to improve their writing skills. In fact, …show more content…

Growth as a writer allows for advances in knowledge on how to write as well as draw in an audience. By utilizing our writing skills we become accustom to comprehension regarding subjects that are challenging and require more in depth understanding. From use of implementing our skills we become better readers, as well as more intelligent. Reading and writing are correlated; therefore, to read better means we write better, and to write better we come better
