Why Uniforms Should be Enforced Did you know that school uniforms can reform how students act in school and even the school itself? School uniforms is a controversial topic and can be seen as a battle between self-expression vs. marvelous student behavior and better learning experiences. Although most schools do not require uniforms, they have a strict dress code. Uniforms contribute positively to student behavior and instill discipline, decreases bullying in school, and help with safety on campus. For these reasons, uniforms should be enforced in schools. To begin, many schools have been turning to school uniforms because they contribute positively to student behavior and instill discipline. According to thespruce.com, there is decrease in bullying and teasing by wearing uniforms because there is an equal playing field with clothes. This relates to the claim because in this day and age, pre-teens and teenagers are interested in wearing well-known and expensive brands, with the logos of these brands standing out. For example, the brand Supreme, is considered a “hypebeast” brand, which is a brand that is trendy and in style. Many teenagers are interested in this brand, and if a student owns any of their items, they can be considered cool or rich. If a student isn’t wearing cool or trendy clothes, they can be possibly bullied for “not being cool enough.” By wearing uniforms this phenomon is negated as students do not have to worry about status and reputation since they will all look the same. However, students may be restricted with expressing themselves since they cannot use their clothes to show others the type of person they are.
