Why People Need To Carry A Gun

The world is a scary place and you never know what might happen next. As human beings we can’t predict the future and we sure can’t predict what another person is thinking. For the most part, the last thing that a peace-loving person wants is violence. In most cases however, violence may be the only answer. Like my dad always told me, “it’s better to have protection and not need it than to have no protection and need it.” In my opinion, that’s a motto that not just peace-loving people, but anybody can agree upon. Though there are an infinite amount of reasons why someone might carry a gun, I believe that a peace-loving person might carry a gun because they are too small, too old, or too uneducated to defend themselves. When I mention uneducated, I’m not speaking about a person without a high school degree, but rather a person who has no type of training in self-defense. I believe that this applies to most of the population considering that the average person does not know any type of self-defense. I believe that an uneducated person would want to carry a gun because it’s the easiest and most reliable option. Carrying a gun does not require hours on top of hours of training for it to finally become useful. A person with no criminal history who is over the age of eighteen or twenty-one in some states can simply apply for their concealed arms permit. Once approved, they can purchase a gun of their choosing and carry it legally as long as it’s concealed. Regardless if you’re a peace-loving person, being able to protect yourself with such ease must seem awfully appealing. Growing up in Huntington Beach I never understood why you would want to own a gun. That idea changed when my best friend’s house nearly got broken into. Luckily, they had a good security system that scared off the masked intruders. The scary part is that his whole family was home sleeping and what would have happened if they didn’t get scared off? How do you protect your family in that instance? Who cares if you’re anti-violence, would you really want to take that
