Why Male Teachers are Important in Society Today?

There are many different reasons we need male teachers today in society. They have to face advantages and disadvantages. Some of these male teachers find the need, or desire, to mentor these young boys. Female educators are important but male educators are just as important in ways not possible by a female. Male and female teachers both provide education that the other sex is weaker in. Therefore, it is critical that young people get exposure to both in the educational environments.

With being a male educator there are a great amount of advantages. The greatest advantage of being a male teacher would be the self satisfaction. Male teachers have the need or desire to want to go and mold the minds of the students that they teach. Knowing that they are making a difference is also an advantage in itself. “This proves that a job in an elementary is not only fulfilling, but can also be a new start for men in careers that they don’t like.” (Nathan Forman). Male teachers also experience positive discrimination because they are men, they will get a job as a teacher easy. Many say that men have the advantage of going into elementary education also because they may receive more promotions. With the percent of elementary male educators low, most administrators are hiring males to fill positions. Many see the male teachers as role models for the students. There are two organizations that encourage, and recruit, males to join early education; the National Education Association (NEA) and Menteach.org.

However with advantages of being a male teacher, you have disadvantages as well. There are three main disadvantages of being a male teacher are pay, negative affects from the surrounding society, and being looked at as a child molester or homos...

...appy. With the difference in gender, both a male and female teachers' exposure to society's youth is critical, and male teachers are just as important as females in the educational field.
